We messaged and called the host which went unanswered, only upon calling VRBO support did they get in contact with the host who indicated the need to cancel due to ‘water damage’ which was odd as the reservation was made the day prior (as we had a similar 9-month old reservation cancel in the same way) and had availability the day it was made. Half of our group was a few miles away from the house when the cancellation happened and that was only after we called them.
