Weekend getaway
We enjoyed our stay.

5/5 Excellent

Get away from it all in comfort
It felt like being at home. Place is not super polished, but it certainly does the job and is very comfortable. They've obviously put a tremendous amount of work into it, but there's a 'honey-do' list a mile long. Honestly, I much prefer that kind of house over the ones that look like a magazine (and cost 10 times as much) and you're afraid to touch anything for fear of messing something up. So it worked out well. The watercraft (paddleboard, kayak, and canoe) were great, and the shallow water throughout the cove (very shallow, like at your knees) was I think comforting to the kids trying out things like the paddleboard for the first time. We didn't try crabbing or fishing this time but they do provide crab pots if you want to put them out. If you want the full crashing waves beach experience, Assateague is about an hour away and worth the day trip. Bugs--Apparently we missed most of mosquito season, so wasn't a problem for most of us. Inside though, flies and fruit flies were a real problem. I had to move the kitchen trashcan outside, and the outside cans away from the house, and just use a tightly sealed bag inside to keep them under control. The fruit flies even managed to get into my car and go after fruit in a starbucks cup. We had some pretty serious storms while we were there but stayed bone dry in the house. Pull any watercraft all the way up to the shed overnight, especially with storms, or they may float away. The view over the water is spectacular and the roads around the house provide a very nice loop to walk or walk the dog. Friendly neighbors all around. I made use of the firepit, no wood onsite but you can buy a bag of it for $6 at a number of places as you travel around. Bring chairs for outside. I read that nearby supplies are hard to come by. There's a food lion in Exmore (and not much else) so it's not all that far. Bring tupperware, there is none onsite. Also, water out of the tap is kind of brackish, so cook and make coffee only with filtered water from the fridge. Teeth brushing fine. Water pump under floor is loud but ok. If you like horses and trail riding, there's a great place called Queen Hive Farm that's about 40 min north. Also be sure to visit Savage Neck Dunes to the south for a great walk (with or without a dog) through woods and then on a neat beach. House internet served 2 kids remote learning and 2 adults working on and off so check. Pool table a hit with the kids. Overall, definitely worth it.

3/5 Okay

Outside was great
We enjoyed the sunsets, the screened porch, and the fire pit. The house was fine, but generally could use some TLC. Also, thewater smelled and tasted strongly of metal. The scent lingered on us all day after a shower.

4/5 Good

Loved the view. Comfortable beds. Good communication with owner.
Great view

4/5 Good

Good place on the water
The only negativity is I wish the place is cleaned more throughly. But overall it’s a decent place to stay.
