They hotel closed three months ago.....

Pros: The staff was really friendly at the Riu hotel
Cons: Cleanliness .
Location: Playas del Coco are near by, Hard Rock cafe is there , many nice stores and supermarkets like Automercado with ,anything you can find in USA.... g
When we arrived to the hotel the security personel informed us it was closed! Our reservation moved to another hotel part of the same family, almoust two hrs driving later.... they did have our reservation but.... they dont accept children, so our 8 months old was not welcome, they had already booked us a room in another all inclusive resort near by.... another hour driving to get there... the place was ok, but the beach was horrible, nothing like what we had in mind, the hotel staff said expedia knew about the change and they were supposed to let us know! But nobody did. the bathroom had mold, the bed was not confortable a super small tv, only in spanish, the pool did not have enough chairs so people was fighting for them, the food was ok, but nothing special

Hotel Closed Upon Arrival

When we arrived we were told that the hotel had been closed for three weeks!! And were then sent an hour and a half south to a hotel that certainly appeared below the standards we had initially booked at the Allegro.

Hotel Closed

Pros: Didnt stay so nothing
Cons: Communication prior to departure about hotel closure to be provided with options.
Location: unsure as did not stay in the location i selected for very specific reasons.
I arrived at the hotel to find it closed. I received no notification. Expedia told me that since they moved me to another hotel and since I didnt call them to complain right away but waited to do so when I arrived home, which was the hotels advice, I was not entitled to anything. Apparently there is a collect call number I should have been aware of an quote "the average customer does". Not impressed with Allegro but much less impressed with expedia.

2 Resort stay

Stay in 2 resorts due to Allegro closing for remodeling, so moved to Occidental by resorts management, transportation provided. Great job, made event easy. Allegro & Occidental room views were great. Allegro bed hard, Occidental much more comfortable. Allegro more for family. Beaches we enjoyed both. Food both had buffet style. Disco/clubnot real much both. Biting bugs bring bug-spray! Excursions good selection we enjoy 1 all-day to rainforest while at Occidental. Not good for walking to local towns.

good for a short get away

this is not your typical all inclusive resort - rather simple and straight forward. Staff tries and is friendly - rooms are clean but small - buffets have decent choices, nothing special. Beach area is volcanic sand, water very muddy and vendors constantly pestering you. Apparently, the Occidental Hotel Group is looking for a buyer for the property and does not put much effort into improvements. This resort is mostly catering to native families, which makes it a nice experience.

Not Satisfied !!

Pros: The pool and the staff !!
Cons: Infraestructure, better organization during the meal times, better entertaiment at night
Location: Nothing to do near by, the hotel is on a isolated area.You would have to drive 1 hour to find better beaches, tours and night life.
The 3 meals of the day was a nightmare. No food refill went something was finished and no one was able to resolve. The towells of the pool were old and ripped. The pillows on our room smelled bad and had no water on the frig to drink.

Pros: The view is awesome, and the staff of Snack Bar and Pablo's Bar were really nice and helpful.
From the start I was disappointing with the hotel, the reception staff didn't find the reservation (made with Expedia) they made us sent the confirmation to a email, he didn't even offer a PC to do that, we have to do it from our cell phones. Even though the guard of the main entrance have the notification of our reservation. The room at first sight was clean, but door of the TV cabinet didn't maintain open, we have to use the cord of a unplugged lamp that was near by to keep it open. Then we realized that the sheets were dirty. In the Restaurant the attention of the waiters was lousy we have to find a place to seat and even they look at us and didn't went to ask if we need anything, we constantly have to call them so they can help us with the drinks. In the Snack Bar, the have a small fridge with the lettuce and tomatoes to add it to the hamburgers or hot dogs, but that fridge looks old, and dirty, it doesn't seem right. The room towels have stains and seems soiled and old.

I can understand that these days are low season but during weekend there were a lot of people and low quality service was bad I mean for example, in buffet food station were empty many times with different options, restaurants a la carte were closed Sunday night and Monday just opened one of them. Saturday night in a bar the schedule indicated was up to 10pm and 9.56pm people closing it, a foreign who stepped to the line ask for a drink and the barman gave it but in my turn he said the bar is closes and I asked him why did he attend and serving him if he stepped to the line and now me is the bar closed ? ... after that the barman took my order I am not sure if this kind of service happened me and my wife since we are national tourists and not foreigners ...

Dear Guest, You're right we are in "low season" but on weekends we have totally full the resort. Most of the people national. In case of the buffet everybody goes at the same time and our staff makes the best for having the stations full. The bars start being close at 9:50 pm because the barman have to clean the areas and let everything in order. Nice price, but not very good food

The hotel is ok, not so bad but the food and hotel staff wasnt nice, pool is ok and the best part was the beach which is calm and relaxing
