Visit my home in tranquil Lewes - ideal for a relaxed, old-fashioned beach vacation away from neon, noise, high-rises & mega-mansions. Wonderful memories are made here! Great for 'working from home' too. House has highest level internet to handle 9 devices plus a Smart TV.
My charming Victorian 'Blue Lady', featured on the 'Lewes Home Tour', has modern updates and well-appointed furnishings. The 'compound' features a separate carriage house, beautiful surroundings, and a unique covered outdoor bathroom. Sleeps 10 -based on 2 in the King and Double bed and 3 in the cottage. Sleep in real beds (no pull-out couches here). In Winter, the house sleeps 7; cottage is closed from Nov- May. Outdoors, there is a Massive Deck, Huge Screened Gazebo, SunRoom, and Front Porch to extend living space to the outdoors without leaving home. Thoughtful conveniences supplied-starter sundries, most towels, beach gear, bikes and toys. Once you book, I'll send you all you'll need to know to make your stay your very best vacation. My home is nestled within the quiet side of the historic district with easier parking and the 10-mile bike trail 1 block away. It is only a 4-block walk to the town's center with restaurants, boutiques, groceries, farmers market and all your convenience needs.
The quiet town of Lewes, established in the 1600’s, showcases a scenic seaport village with a rich history, tax-free shopping, beautiful beaches, water sports, cycling, and year-round events. The ocean beach and bay are within a mile (walk, bike or drive with your gear). Not a building is in sight along the 8 miles of pristine Cape Henlopen ocean shoreline. The ferry to Cape May, NJ, and Rehoboth Beach, DE are nearby and bustle with more eateries, boutiques and Boardwalk attractions.
This quaint 1898 Victorian house features all the latest updates and well-appointed furnishings. It has five bedrooms with two and a half baths (including an outdoor bathroom). Sleeps 10 guests and features a fully-equipped sunny kitchen, W/D, DW, hardwood floors, window A/C units and ceiling fans throughout and in every bedroom, basic Cable TV, DVD and WIFI. The main house sleeps 7 with 1King, 1Double, and 3 Twin beds. The separate cottage sleeps 3 with 2 Twin beds, one of which is a trundle that converts to a King or a 3rd single bed. The cottage bedroom suite has seating & a kitchenette - perfect for multi-families, teens, grandparents or a fun ‘dorm.' Delightful outdoor spaces include a neighborly front porch, complete with rockers, and a backyard boasting a beautiful, spacious deck with lounging and seating for everyone, alongside a manicured lawn with towering walnut trees, chirping birds and an ocean breeze. When the sea is a little rough, you can even hear the waves. The gorgeous screened gazebo seats 12 for dinner and offers a couch and chairs for relaxing. I have bug service so there shouldn't be any on the deck or in the house. There is even a small gazebo that is great for 'work' when everyone else is relaxing (or use it as a game room and kid's playhouse instead). My gracious neighbor, Grace, offers her beautiful lawn for our neighborhood’s enjoyment – and yours! Play ball or Frisbee; consider a friendly game of croquet (set provided). There is a cozy solarium for morning coffee on chilly days, a gas grill adjacent to the outdoor antique prep sink, and a shed stocked for your recreational use with 3 adult bikes, beach toys, boogie boards, yard games, outdoor concert lawn chairs, and beach chairs. Bring your own favorites or rent equipment nearby. Supply your own beach umbrella.
Supplies and Towels:
As a bonus, you’ll find most of what you need when you first arrive, including starter paper supplies and condiments. I provide kitchen, hand and bath towels, but you must bring your own sheets and beach towels. Sheet rentals are available through a few services advertised on the internet-Gale Force is one.
The 2nd Floor has 3 bedrooms and a full bathroom – Master Bedroom w/King Bed; Twin Bedroom w/2 Single Beds; and a Small Bedroom w/1 Single Bed. The 3rd Floor has an Attic Bedroom with an antique double bed and a pitched ceiling and steeper stairs, typical of this period type of historic home when people were shorter than 6 feet. Some people use the attic along with the small bedroom at the stairs as a suite. Create some extra privacy or give the kids their own ‘dream house' with the 5th cottage bedroom. The separate Cottage Suite has 3 twin beds - a Twin and a Twin Trundle Bed (2 twins). Use them as 3 beds or convert the Trundle to a King Bed with an extra twin. The cottage has a loveseat, table for 4, mini kitchenette and easy, motion-lighted access to the outdoor bathroom and first-floor bath.
Main level: half bath and our favorite outside shower/bathroom, complete with a toilet, shower, dressing area, and outside sink. The 2nd floor has a full bath with tub and shower. There is no bathroom on the 3rd floor attic level.
My home resides in a terrific, quiet neighborhood with caring residents. Please respect that this is their home and not their vacation destination. Parking is open; however, please be courteous and leave space in front of their homes for their cars. If you need to park more than 2 cars on my side of the street, please distribute them around the end of the block or on the next street where there are less homes and more curbs.
