Horrible Beds!

Posted Jul 19, 2012
No screens on the old windows and aweful mattresses made this stay less than pleasurable. None of us slept well due to the old dippy, noisy beds. Will not be returning.

One and only night at Hooligans Fishing Lodge.

They need new mattresses, they are worn out. The curtains are thin and the blinds were missing from the brackets. This is Alaska in the summer, you need blinds. The clerk took my driver's license at check in and never returned it.

Needs Updating

Posted Aug 10, 2011
The staff was great, the rooms were clean and the price I got thru Expedia was great. That is the good news. The mattress and the TV in my room needed to be replaced. The property is old and well used. The ice machine in the lobby made noise all night long. The bar that is attached to the lodge attracts the young party crowd which does not bode well for those getting up early to go fishing.

sheets worn out , like threadbare. Was a smoking room and I don't smoke.. window to outside very dirty needed washing,, carpet needed some time on cleaning big dirty stains,,,yukky. I asked that the spot be cleaned and was told already did. needed time on vacuuming it. bathroom floor was sticky,,,like something spilled and not washed good. dust on the tv screen and the tables and night stand. coffee pot not cleaned several times. Saturday night very noisey ,,woke me up twice and so much noise like someone doing jumping . I concerned about that much roudieness being a dangerous place if roudey people were also smoking and probably drinking. Wash clothes large red/blue stains,,,yukky looking too.

Looks Can be Deceiving

Posted Aug 2, 2011
This is an old hotel in need of upgrade. Typical of what you would expect of a hotel in 1950---not 2011. I would start the remodel with a bulldozer. This hotel looks OK from the road but it goes downhill fast once you enter. Room doors did not have good locks. Interior lighting was very poor. Carpet was threadbare. Bath area was cramped----our toilet bowl was cracked. The gravel access way to the back area of the hotel where we parked needed graded and stone added-----would be OK for a 4-wd pickup. From a positive standpoint, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We cut our stay short and moved to another hotel as soon as we could find other accomodations. This place would be OK for a couple of non-discriminating guys needing a cheap place to stay for a night. Otherwise I would avoid.

Wouldn't Go Back Unless It Was The Only Place in Town

Very old hotel in need of a lot of maintenance and upkeep. Large room with two queen beds, and on carpets that warrant shoes-squeeky wood floors underneath. Pretty trashy.
