Over the years my staff have commented that I always seem to have such wonderful guests. and how do i do this?

I don't know, consider my self fortunate indeed when I hear some stories from high demand guests in other villas. My guests seem more relaxed and happy that they found a comfortable place to sleep because during the day, they're gone exploring, hiking, snorkeling , beaching and boating.

Maybe it's because my prices are low. or we're in the forest, or close to Cruz Bay, close to the North Shore beaches, this Caribbean styled cottage is detached from any other structure, the average temperature is about 75 degrees and the evening a little cooler even, there's no need for ac here.

Moreover the cottages are super strongly built. I was in my apartment (which is like a bunker) and only had the use of one window to see outside. It was in credible to see 240 MPH of wind full of branches, window frames, 2 X 4's flying through the salt water filled air 500 feet above sea level. That speed was sustained for 20 minutes... terrible and scary! After the storm passed i walked outside to see everything flattened... all the trees were down, completely bare of life... no green, but both cottages were standing proud, missing the gutters and down pipes even a huge tree lying on the roof of one, they were unharmed in the face of the strongest hurricane on record. All around me, houses, wood and concrete houses were blown apart or away. So when a hurricane blows over st john again, you now know of one place here that's safe to be in. :)

The location is a very private and fenced-in cul-de-sac on Gift Hill, which is 5-minute drive from Cruz Bay and around a 10-minute drive to the famous North Shore beaches. So conveniently located insofar as shopping, restaurants and entertainment on St John.

The cottage is designed simply to create a Caribbean abode feel although inside is as if you were at home and very comfortable with all modern conveniences and finishes. However outside is finished with bright Caribbean colors and the garden is like a jungle with natural large tropical undergrowth and fruit trees like bananas, passion fruit, Papaya and guava trees and delights with the tropical night sounds with the sounds of crickets, frogs, geckos, Iguana, hermit crabs and scents of the rain forest.
After a day spent exploring the island's treasures (the petroglyphs, the mill ruins, hiking trails, reefs and beaches) and experiencing myriad sun-drenched and water-quenched activities you'll come back to a quiet, cool, and restful home-away-from-home.

The patio on this cottage is large and includes a full kitchen, lounging area, ,breakfast table and chairs and for those that want to relax in the double hammock there's that too.
Inside is a king bed, desk and chair, dresser, futon and good size cabinet, bathroom with shower, hand basin and WC.

The cottage is 500 feet above sea level which is about 9-10 degrees cooler than at sea level. Temperatures range between 83 degrees in the summer months down to 72 degrees in the wintertime. The power cost here is very high and as the weather is cool and the nights even cooler and the cottages very airy so there is no need for air conditioning. The power savings being passed on to their low pricing.

There is also a 2nd cottage for two couple or family scenario. They are great for socializing together and then going back to one’s own abode and not sharing kitchen or living areas gives you privacy and intimacy not available when sharing one house together. They are only 50 feet apart however because of the undergrowth and their design are private from each other.

All linen is supplied including beach towels and for those staying for longer periods there is a laundry with washer and drier.

There is parking at the front gate.

Outdoor smoking is OK. Your pet is welcome, though larger dogs might be intimidated by one very friendly Jack Russell terrier ....

Note: Please understand that St John is 75% National Park that includes the tropical rain forest. The cottages border the forest. This forest has small animals and insects of St John in it. Although the cottages are completely screened for flying insects and mosquito's we can't guarantee that some may get in somehow.

Guest accommodations at this cottage offer coffee/tea makers and hair dryers. Rooms open to patios. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and cookware/dishes/utensils.

Bathrooms include showers. Business-friendly amenities include desks and desk chairs.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

St. John Stay
We were very pleased with the cottage. The description online is accurate. The driveway is very steep and it’s best to have a vehicle with good ground clearance. The outdoor kitchen was awesome! It was the perfect place to start our day with a cup of coffee and end our day with a beer or glass of wine. Beach towels and a cooler were provided, so that was great for our beach days. Trevor was an amazing host, he was very responsive and helpful. We even enjoyed a meal with him! Hope your doing well Trevor. All in all this is a great place to stay if you’re looking for a little seclusion, but want to be relatively close to the action! Thanks for sharing this beautiful place with us!

The Jungle House
For those that enjoy a "jungle experience", this cabin is great. There's an every night symphony of coqui frogs, insects, and occasional crowing of feral roosters. Very pleasant to sit on the spacious porch and take it all in. There is a bar/restaurant and gas station/package store nearby and a great roadside eatery(The Island Breeze) at the intersection of Hwy 140 and Hwy 10- serving up grilled chicken, pork, beef and local veggies. Be forewarned that guests should bring in bottled water since all the plumbing is run off catchment and isn't potable. In addition, a high clearance, a AWD or 4WD vehicle is highly recommended since the entrance off Hwy 140 is rather steep and the last few yards to the property is steep and semi-paved , making access with a regular passenger car a bottom scraping experience. But it can be done, we did it. Your host Trevor is a very interesting chap and very helpful in sorting out your questions. Interesting property for a different kind of experience. Try it !!

Nice stay, beware of mosquitos
Secluded in a convenient location. Trevor was a super kind and helpful host. The outdoor kitchen was the highlight, so close to nature and warm air. Bed was comfortable, and there were air mattresses for our third guest as well. A super friendly cat was a plus. Mosquitos were a big downer though, the cottage seem to have more of them than downtown or at the beaches because it's surrounded by nature, and no AC to deter the bugs. We were there during Christmas break and still got multiple bites every day both outdoors and indoors which made the stay much less enjoyable. One person in our party had resorted to wearing long sleeves and pants to bed. We probably cannot ask for more because this place is very budget friendly, the price is very competitive. If we come back to USVI we'll likely stay in St Thomas where there's more accommodation options and do daily car barges over instead.

An adventure
My family enjoyed this adventure immensely, especially the friendly kitty and the outdoor kitchen. It was a little scary to use the road down to the cottages without 4WD and I would definitely want to get a jeep next time. You will also absolutely need bug spray and bottled water. We had a great time!
