Over the years my staff have commented that I always seem to have such wonderful guests. and how do i do this?

I don't know, consider my self fortunate indeed when I hear some stories from high demand guests in other villas. My guests seem more relaxed and happy that they found a comfortable place to sleep because during the day, they're gone exploring, hiking, snorkeling , beaching and boating.

Maybe it's because my prices are low. or we're in the forest, or close to Cruz Bay, close to the North Shore beaches, this Caribbean styled cottage is detached from any other structure, the average temperature is about 75 degrees and the evening a little cooler even, there's no need for ac here.

Moreover the cottages are super strongly built. I was in my apartment (which is like a bunker) and only had the use of one window to see outside. It was in credible to see 240 MPH of wind full of branches, window frames, 2 X 4's flying through the salt water filled air 500 feet above sea level. That speed was sustained for 20 minutes... terrible and scary! After the storm passed i walked outside to see everything flattened... all the trees were down, completely bare of life... no green, but both cottages were standing proud, missing the gutters and down pipes even a huge tree lying on the roof of one, they were unharmed in the face of the strongest hurricane on record. All around me, houses, wood and concrete houses were blown apart or away. So when a hurricane blows over st john again, you now know of one place here that's safe to be in. :)

The location is a very private and fenced-in cul-de-sac on Gift Hill, which is 5-minute drive from Cruz Bay and around a 10-minute drive to the famous North Shore beaches. So conveniently located insofar as shopping, restaurants and entertainment on St John.

The cottage is designed simply to create a Caribbean abode feel although inside is as if you were at home and very comfortable with all modern conveniences and finishes. However outside is finished with bright Caribbean colors and the garden is like a jungle with natural large tropical undergrowth and fruit trees like bananas, passion fruit, Papaya and guava trees and delights with the tropical night sounds with the sounds of crickets, frogs, geckos, Iguana, hermit crabs and scents of the rain forest.
After a day spent exploring the island's treasures (the petroglyphs, the mill ruins, hiking trails, reefs and beaches) and experiencing myriad sun-drenched and water-quenched activities you'll come back to a quiet, cool, and restful home-away-from-home.

The patio on this cottage is large and includes a full kitchen, lounging area, ,breakfast table and chairs and for those that want to relax in the double hammock there's that too.
Inside is a king bed, desk and chair, dresser, futon and good size cabinet, bathroom with shower, hand basin and WC.

The cottage is 500 feet above sea level which is about 9-10 degrees cooler than at sea level. Temperatures range between 83 degrees in the summer months down to 72 degrees in the wintertime. The power cost here is very high and as the weather is cool and the nights even cooler and the cottages very airy so there is no need for air conditioning. The power savings being passed on to their low pricing.

There is also a 2nd cottage vrbo.com/211634 for two couple or family scenario. They are great for socializing together and then going back to one’s own abode and not sharing kitchen or living areas gives you privacy and intimacy not available when sharing one house together. They are only 50 feet apart however because of the undergrowth and their design are private from each other.

All linen is supplied including beach towels and for those staying for longer periods there is a laundry with washer and drier.

There is parking at the front gate.

Outdoor smoking is OK. Your pet is welcome, though larger dogs might be intimidated by one very friendly Jack Russell terrier ....

Note: Please understand that St John is 75% National Park that includes the tropical rain forest. The cottages border the forest. This forest has small animals and insects of St John in it. Although the cottages are completely screened for flying insects and mosquito's we can't guarantee that some may get in somehow.

The cottage is nice. Rustic, set in the hills. Anything I write that seems critical has nothing to do with the cottage, its the transportation on the island. Which seems monopolistic. No uber, Lyft or cabs .You need to rent a jeep for this location. You need to have guts when taking on the hills. Taxis which are really shuttle services will not take you to the cottage. The hill is too steep, although we walked it daily , it's less than an 1/8th of a mile but your quads and calves will blow out by the time you reach the top. Taxis follow routine routes, its often begging to get them to take you somewhere. If you are at a beach, which lots are close to the cottage, they will take you back to Cruz Bay and then to the cottage , charging almost double. Most fares were about $12 per way. So you need to rent a jeep, you can also get one in St Thomas and ferry over which isn't much different economically. Unfortunately this has to be done months in advance, and you will find there is no where to park at Cruz Bay or the beaches. There is also a minimum amount of days they will rent a car for, leaving you in a catch 22 situation There are some good restaurants and bars by the cottage but you'll have to walk them and are a little over a mile away with difficult terrain and traffic. not to mention no street signs or lighting

Expectations Met-As Advertised
We were quite happy with our time here. We were pretty careful about reading the description of the cottage and its amenities and so were not surprised by anything. Time may be running out here as Trevor is no longer on site and has the property listed for sale but reservations are still being taken for the balance of 2023. Caretaker Rob and housekeeper Diane are responsive.

We love Trevor’s place!
This is my second time at this place. It is the best. Trevor’s place is quiet and well situated. Our little car was able to get up and down the driveway without too much of a problem even though it wasn’t four wheel drive. The house is spacious and has a blender! Which makes me so happy. We made lots of smoothies. There are all the pots and pans you could need for cooking, as we occasionally did. The house overseers Rob and Diane were wonderful to be around. Thank you so much Trevor!! We will be back!!!

Close enough to everything but far enough off the beaten path to enjoy nature. Also a really friendly cat on the property :)

Rustic peaceful cottage
We enjoyed our stay in Cottage #2. It was a clean & easy home base, and looks just like in the photos. We loved sitting on the porch at night, were happy falling asleep listening to the chorus of frogs, & didn't mind too much being awakened early by roosters. No question you need a 4x4 for the road & driveway. Also recommend arriving before dark--it was a bit hard to find the first time, despite great directions w/photos. The listing indicates a deadbolt, but that only works from the inside. We didn't have a way to lock the cottage when we were out. We weren't very concerned because of the remote location. Trevor was responsive by text when we had questions.
