Upon arrival at our "family room", we realised it was only prepared for two people and not a family of four. Tried to contact reception and had to wait 20 minutes until someone answered. We ate in the restaurant and that experience was awful. It wasn't the fault of our lovely waitress but the fact that the hotel was understaffed. We waited over an hour to be served our meal. Hair in my dinner was the last straw. The next morning we discovered that there was no hot water! We were unable to have a shower and the hotel didn't have the decency to notify its customers. Eventually when I spoke to reception (after spending too long trying to figure out there was no hot water, they said we could use the facilities. Really? They expected us to traipse across the hotel to a leisure centre for a shower. Hugely unacceptable. Terrible experience and we will not be returning to a De Vere hotel again, I am sorry to say.
