Terrible customer service

The key cards for our room didn't work so I took them to the front desk and the kid working reprogrammed them. Walked all the way back and they still didn't work. He said I must have put them too close to my cell phone and erased them. Acted irritatedthat we wanted working keys. He took them back to the office then brought them back and left. I took them and immediately tried them and they still didn't work and he was gone. Took them all the way back again and he said "I TOLD you not to put them near electronics!". Pardon me? He reprogrammed them again and brought them to the room himself and shockingly they didn't work. He fiddled with the door mechanism for a while and then informed us that the door must have been shaken and the battery was disconnected. Interesting, as it blinked red when we tried the keys and his master key worked. He then lectured us to be careful with the door and keep the keys away from electronics. Everything else in the room was broken, but obviously we were responsible for the malfunctioning locking mechanism. Not the experience we were looking for at midnight after driving all day. There are at least 10 other motels nearby, don't choose this one.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologize for your unpleasant experience at our Thriftlodge motel. As our room keys are magnetic card keys, they are prone to damage from contact with other electronic devices. It is a very routine question for our front desk staff in such cases as it does occur quite often. As this incident occurred around mid-night, I understand the irritation experienced during the dialogue. Our front staff went to your room together and opened the door for you. After that, he re-programmed the door lock system and it worked fine. Since all of our rooms are ground level and doors are faced to outside, the door lock system can cause trouble time to time. I understand that you arrived at almost mid-night and very tired. And so, you might feel uncomfortable to come back to report that the keys were not working. Guest satisfaction is our top priority, and we appreciate it when our guests make the effort to bring to our attention items that need to be corrected.

Walls and carpet stained. Bath and shower old.We could hear the neighbors speaking at 6 am.Will not go back.

Place to sleep

Location: Chinese restaurant with breakfast also on same property. Very good food and reasonable prices.
Nice large quiet room. Very comfortable beds and true queen size beds. Enjoyed the stay.

Excellent value! Would definitely come again. Very clean, spacious room. Everything we needed for one night on our way to BC.
