Somewhere between Camping and Glamping
Katherine, the GM, was great about communication before & during our stay. Our room opened onto a deck with a gorgeous view of the mountains. Bed was comfy, room was clean. We kept the doors onto the deck open at night for the breeze. Unfortunately the screen didn’t lock & the deck was shared with another room so that was a bit strange. A simple hook lock would solve this. No coffee or even water in the lobby. Simple things that would elevate the stay a notch. We saw magpies on the property which was a treat. They’re in the midst of a transition so we didn’t mind the glitches. It was kind of like camping but with a private bathroom. Property is tranquil, peaceful & quiet. Location great, very close to town. I would stay again if some changes were made, at least having coffee for guests in the morning!

With a little TLC this could be a great retreat.
The room was cramped for four people. One of the beds was a twin trundle that blocked the entrance/exit when it was put together. It was a little run down - dingy, fraying rug at entrance, a standing mirror that was wobbly, wouldn't stay up, a desk chair that felt tacky - needed to be properly cleaned. We found remnants from prior tenants - a back scratcher and chapstick under the trundle bed. The toilet paper was cheap - as thin as gift tissue paper. The breakfast was not the amazing experience some raved about. If you didn't get there when it was right out of the oven, it was cold - no warmers to keep food hot for those who didn't arrive at 8. However, the beds were super comfy with plenty of pillows and blankets. I liked how they seem eco-conscious: no travel size plastic bottles of shampoo/condition/lotion, but rather dispensers on the wall of the shower and near the sink with those necessities. No plastic at breakfast either - they used real plates, glasses, and utensils and condiments were set out in bowls to scoop with spoons so none of those throwaway plastic containers. Trash/paper/plastic recycle bins readily available. This is something they need to tout more prominently. There was a light that shined through the sheer windows and made it difficult for some to sleep. Would be great if they installed blackout curtains. With a little TLC, some upgrades, and special touches this could be a great retreat.

Very nice historic building. There is a main building with rooms upstairs and a very large common area and dining area downstairs. The other rooms enter from the outside. Rooms are not luxury but very nice and cozy. Bathroom was nice and we had a shower/bath tub combo. There was a kiva fireplace in our room with a basket of firewood and starter material. Parking right outside buildings. Easy access to plaza and other areas of Taos. Breakfast was outstanding.

Truly one of my favorite places to stay!
Whenever I am in Taos I stay here. It's beautiful Southwestern style, along with the welcoming grounds around it always makes for a new experience. I have stayed in 3 different rooms and they are all lovely and comfortable. Their Breakfasts are always delicious and served in a beautiful room with a Kiva fireplace or on the lovely patio.
