Anybody familiar with Magnetic Island will tell you that Olympus Crescent in Arcadia is one of, if not, the best addresses on the Island. This short street along the north west headland above lovely Alma Bay, leading towards the dramatic lookout down to Fish Cove, is where you will find Capricornia Cottage, a gorgeously restored heritage Queenslander cottage which has now come onto the Holiday market......
While a sense of history and tropical style is maintained, the best of modern facilities are built in. Two renovated bathrooms service the main bedroom with queen bed and the verandah sleepout has two single beds and a fold up for that extra guest.A split system reverse cycle air conditioning is installed throughout the house.Withceiling fans and cool breezes keep the house cool during the summer months. The kitchen is completely new and, as Capricornia Cottage has been rewired and new copper plumbing installed, everything is ready for you to book today.
Great efforts were made in the renovation to preserve the character of the building. The original louvres and doors were stored to be used in the reconstructed back section of the house. The floor boards were sanded individually to retain the bumps and variances of the old building. The internal walls, removed during renovation to open the building up, had been lined with corrugated iron. New mini corrugated iron was used to retain the feel of the cottage.
Fully equipt laundry with washing machine and dryer.
A 5 minute stroll down the hill and you are at Alma Bay, one of the best and safest swiming beaches
Olympus Crescent, being a no-through road, means visitors to Capricornia Cottage are amazed at the silence. The only noise on dusk being the Currawongs and, in the evenings, the Curlews. Rock wallabies are regular visitors to the front garden.
