Beautiful hotel in small walled hilltop town

Posted May 15, 2017
Pros: quiet, comfortable with good service
Location: 10 to 15 miles from Siena
We chose this hotel as a convenient base to see Siena. It was very quiet and comfortable and the staff and breakfast were very good. We would stay again if we need lodging in the general area.

Nice location. Rooms are dark. Wifi did not work in the room - only in the lobby. No hot water one morning but that was the whole town, not the hotel's fault.

The best unexpected experience!

Posted Jul 21, 2013
Pros: It was clean, nice views and very cozy! it is like a home.
Cons: I would not change anything!
Location: There are some towns and vinyards, good walking path ways around the castlle through woods, Threre are marked mounting bikes paths. Nice restaurants.
We where recommended this hotel by some friends, at saw it as a good opportunity. Our stay coincided with a Festival in the Castle therefore we have the best experience ever well above our expectation! The region is beautifull we have a very long walk around the hotel through woods, small town, sunflowers. The hotel is run by a beatifull family that make you feel at home. We drank, wine, eat very well and enjoy a sitdown with the owner and their family having a cup of wine with them in a home enviorment

4* boutique hotel in medieval walled Tuscan town.

Posted Jun 13, 2011 on Hotels
Excellent location, in very romantic settings. Great base for exploring that area of Tuscany. Located in small, walled, medieval Tuscan town. located on a hilltop close to Siena. Although only a few minutes drive from the autostrada and around 15-20 minutes drive from the centre of Siena, very quiet and peaceful location. The town gets quite a few tourist day visitors, so maybe a bit busy outside during the day in the height of the season. Although, private hotel gardens and small pool behind the hotel allow you to escape and relax (private secured parking too). The hotel does not have a restaurant, but serves breakfast buffet and lunchtime snacks. There is a choice of 4-5 restaurants in the town (I think less choice out of season). Our room was comfortable, nicely furnished, but cosy (little on the small side). Large bathroom was well equipped, but shower cubical was very small. Family run, service was friendly and helpful. So overall, we had a great stay for a couple of nights. We will recommend to family and friends, as well as considering going back again (if we get the time..... so much Italy, so little time).

Stunning, worth every single penny

What a stunning place. If you are after a peaceful relaxing break in the heart of Tuscany then this is the place to be. As you drive up to the entrance you are blown away by the character of the citadel and the stunning views. Inside you will find a peaceful and traditional Tuscany settlement. The area has a handful of craft shops to keep you busy for an afternoon. There are three very nice restaurants and a small cafe in which to sit and relax over a bottle of the Chianti Classico that is made locally. For a small price there is also a small museum and you can climb the walls. Don't be led to believe that there is a great deal to do in Monteriggioni, apart from sitting around relaxing and soaking in the whole atmosphere. There are plenty of walks to do in the area and you can purchase a book with them all in for a small price at the tourist information centre. We happily spent 3 full days hear and loved every minute. The hotel was fantastic, very clean, wonderful traditional features and beautifully decorated. Our room was a wonderful size with stunning antique furniture. The bathroom was a good size but I must admit the shower was quite small. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help. There is a lovely private garden for the residents where you can sit and relax or take a dip in the outdoor pool. Getting there is easy if you don't have a car, as it’s a cheap taxi fair from the train station in Castellina in Chianti.

We were very pleased with the support of the Manager and his daughter and the staff at breakfast. The overall experience was ruined for us when another member of staff decided to changeout the garden/pool furniture and made us vacate the area, where we had been having a pleasant afternoon. When trying to continue our relaxation we were pushed away, and told not to touch or move the new furniture. Her surly attitude continued the next day and we were pleased to leave.
