Avoid if possible

First of all, this hotel is not on par with those charging a similar fee. The manager was very friendly, we found out after being assigned to a dirty room... TWICE. The "clean" room was bairly passable. We were sent two blocks away to find parking. There were extra fees on top of the outrageous charge to begin with. Just a mess all round. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Okay for a 1 night stay. Restaurants close by. Older place needs updating . Room clean. Staff very nice.

Cons: Finish the parking for travellers, vending machines, complete renovations, more than two towels in the rooms, a more honest depiction of the hotel.
Location: There was an 2 amazing restaurants nearby-one a small Japanese place on the corner and a little further down a great Italian place.
This hotel was in the midst of renovations for the last "x" number of years. There was no parking-which is a major concern in downtown Vancouver. There were no vending machines, ice machines or restaurants in the building. The lumps on the floor made travel with luggage difficult and the persistent smell of marijuana from a few of the rooms was not acceptable to anyone with allergies. The owners' understanding of English made relaying these concerns challenging and difficult to be resolved. All in all, an expensive stay at a hotel that was sub par.

Pros: The staff was pleasant
Cons: Everything needed improvement. Could sweep up the 50+ cigarette butts on the ground outside the lobby door.
Location: This hotel is not in a good area. Streets were dirty and cluttered. Restaurants and shops were unappealing and many looked dirty.
This hotel had not been updated since the 80's. The garage and lobby were a mess and smelled terrible. As did the elevator. The desk told us that there was construction going on within the hotel, but we stayed there 4 days and never saw 1 contractor. Even though there were 4 of us, housekeeping consistently gave us only 3 towels. We were given one coffee pack daily, there was a charge for additional coffee.

Decent but nothing to rave about

Room was ready for us at checkin at noon. Close to water front, clean and walking distance to BC Place but other than that not too exciting. Overpriced for what we got. Manager was very friendly and accommodating however.

A rip off

The services of the hotel are unacceptable vis-a-vis the cost of the room I paid. The hotel manager has a shirt dirty and with holes, the personnel is not qualified enough. There are not stairs accessible to the public, what happens in case of fire. I leave out other problems for brevity.

The Robsonstrasse is a small hotel right in the heart of things in Vancouver, but with the lower rates of a hotel further away. It would have been good to know that they are in the midst of a renovation, but overall that wasn't a major inconvenience. The big issue was the lack of a stable, strong, WiFi connection. Today's hotel guests expect to be able to work, browse, watch movies, etc., in their devices and this was nearly impossible here. I hope they also intend to address the dates decor as a part of the ongoing reno. Everything is straight out of the 90's.

I recall this guest and I having this similar conversation. He was receiving 27 Mbps speed rate on his I-phone. The Sonic wall WI-Fi system allows you access our high bandwidth speed for a maximum of 30 minutes and then the user has to re-log into the system The re-logging prevents the hotel guest downloading or data steaming movies and over utilizing band width speed and inconvenience our other guests of a slow down in speed. Since we implement this new system which provides 200 Mbps bandwidth speed and at any WI-Fi modem you will receive minimum 27 - 54 Mbps bandwidth speed

It is disappointing when this guest leaves an ill defined comment. I do recall an incident that took place that overlaps this guests stay. We were forced to shorten this guest(s) stay given the ill mannered and disrespectful behavior towards our front desk staff. We had to contact the police to intervene.

Ok experience

The staff is friendly, the facility is old and need upgrading or reduce their rate to match its condition. Still an effort from staff to keep it clean and mantain shows out. That was good. The hotel is well located in Robson street. In general it was an ok experience.

We have made many upgrades to enhance our rooms, made the free Wi-Fi speed more consistent and continuous without signal interruption or degradation . At any given point there is 65Mbps transfer speed from our 200Mb LAN line in. The building may be old, built in the 1964, but has been modernized with sprinklers system,and has been going through an extensive series of renovation upgrades throughout the continuing years. Our regular rates are quite reasonable and offer value . The rates fluctuations that guest(s) express concern over are based on market demands (i.e. conventions,concerts, events, etc ) for rooms in the downtown Robson St location. We do however offer free room upgrades to offset the escalating market demand rate
