This was our second stay at the Bedford Regency, an old-style hotel in the heart of Victoria. The hotel has a loading zone on the street right outside the front door on Government for easy check-in. The parking lot cannot handle vehicles over 6 feet 2 inches high. Our pick-up was just over that so we had to park elsewhere. Street parking in Victoria is free from 6pm Saturday to 7am Monday, which really helped. The rooms are not large, but I like a cosy bedroom. The room was very warm, even though the thermostat was set at the lowest temperature. We experienced this the last time we stayed here. Opening the windows fixed this, but it seems like a waste of hydro. Fortunately we weren't facing the street, so it wasn't too noisy. The Bedford has internal access to a couple of good pubs and is surrounded by other great eateries. We needed to get a quick bite before walkin over to an event in Chinatown, so this really helped. Given we couldn't use the hotel parking, we were grateful for the offer of an extra late check-out on Sunday after a late night Saturday.

"Great spot for a weekend or more stay in Victoria"
Had a small issue with our check in on our first day but the staff at the Empress found a way to fix the problem and went above & beyond to ensure that we were happy with entire stay. Perfect spot for walking around the inner harbour and checking out all the great restaurants & shopping in Victoria!

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to an work event I had to attend in Chinatown. I was pleasantly surprised by the size & modern decor of my room from the era of construction of the building. Lots of charm, friendly staff & both their restaurant/bar and cafe were fantastic! Overall excellent place to stay in town.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the price was very reasonable. The staff was outstanding, showing attention to my every need. The only negative is that the bathroom was a bit small. Overall, this is an outstanding choice for visitors to Victoria.
