**History of The Awosting Club** In the mid 1950's John Atwater Bradley, then a graduate student, attended a conference in Cragsmoor, the site of a celebrated art colony not far from what is now the Awosting Reserve and The Awosting Club. The next morning at dawn, he went out for an exploratory hike and did not return until long after dark. Bradley hiked through evergreen and hardwood forests, along bubbling streams, roaring waterfalls and shimmering mountain lakes. He discovered an incredible wilderness like none he'd ever seen, populated by whitetail deer, black bear, fox, raccoons, bobcat and coyote as well as a natural aviary of hawks, peregrine falcons, owls, eagles and pileated woodpeckers. That day he fell in love with the Shawangunk Ridge.
The Bradley family still lives on the property, and after 50 years of sharing the property with educational organizations, schools, artists, writers, explorers, camps, family and friends, are excited to invite others to fall in love with the Shawangunk Ridge as John Bradley had over 70 years ago. Bradley's daughter, Camilla, and her family are keeping the Awosting traditions alive by sprucing up the camp buildings and platforms while maintaining the trails that have been used for decades for outdoor adventures: from sleeping to eating to playing to communing with nature in all her glory.

This is a excellent change of pace from the places me and my wife were used to. It was fun to experience nature and my pup enjoyed the experience as well. Everything was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable and the woman that helped us was extremely helpful and quick to answer any and all questions.
I would 100 percent book here again.
My Wife and I had a great time! Great getaway, the Domes are an amazing experience everyone should try! Scott was very welcoming and helpful. He suggested a close by restaurant named the Hoot Owl that was fantastic!! He took us to the Dome and also provided Coffee and Muffins in the morning. Definitely will come back again.
My wife and I had an amazing experience in this Geodome. Scott was incredibly friendly, kind and helpful. The view is gorgeous with background sounds of a river flowing by. The dome was located just a couple of minutes away from the trails in the Awosting Reserve. The dome had everything we could possibly need during our stay; flashlight, umbrellas, mini-fridge, drinking water. We had a great experience and can't wait to go back in the future.
My husband and I cannot stop talking about how our stay in the geodome was the best vacation we ever had. Firstly, our host(s) were some of the kindest and most generous people to communicate with. They graciously let us check in early and check out late to make the most of our stay. Secondly, the property, campsites and geodomes are immaculately kept and stunning in every sense of the word. Lastly, the peace and quiet we were able to experience was unreal. Other than our host, we did not see anyone else during our time on the reserve. The hiking was breathtaking and worth every step to see both an on property waterfall and we easily accessed Gertrude's Nose.
We had an absolute blast staying here! It was a 1.5 day/1 night stay at this beautiful geo-dome. We are from nyc, so to walk out of the car and immediately hear everything in nature was so refreshing. Our host was fabulous, she gave us much needed recommendations for hiking and waterfalls, and she was just genuinely nice! We will be back (;

My friend and I had a wonderful stay was a beautiful experience and Scott is very awesome and so helpful and funny. thank you so much for a fantastic time!
My husband and I drove down from Syracuse and spent the night in this beautiful Geodome. We both absolutely loved our experience. Neither of us are that into "real" camping, but we both love nature, so this allowed us to hike and feel surrounded by the natural world without sacrificing comfort and cleanliness. The property is immaculate, comes with all the amenities you would need and is comfortable and aesthetically beautiful. Scott has a great, vibrant personality and hand-delivered a thermos of coffee and muffins for our breakfast. Perfect for a romantic weekend getaway! We will be coming back in winter, for sure!
The domes were really nice and comfortable, and being in the woods was great. While we didn't use the fire pit, it was massive and would have been a lot of fun to hang around. Everything dome related was really great.
Scott was super friendly and gave us recommendations for restaurants to try out. We went to Hoot Owl, and it was awesome, so if we ever go back I'll take his word for anywhere he recommends.
For the most part, the listing is accurate but we were thrown off by the shower being completely open. Sure you're in the woods, but the next dome is a hundred or so yards away, so its a little uncomfortable, We only stayed one night and we opted to just skip the shower the next morning. If we were to return, we would bring a cheap curtain or something to somehow hang around the shower area.
Per the listing, I understood that the lavatory was an outhouse, but I guess I thought it would be more than a shed built around a bucket, similar to other camp grounds that has plumbing.
All that said, it would have been fine had I been prepared for it, but the biggest issue is the price. After taxes and fees, it was close to 450 for the night and to have an exposed shower and an actual outhouse was a shock.
TL;DR The dome was said glamping, but the shower and bathroom said 'welcome to the woods'
Had a great time! The dome was really spacious and comfortable and the outhouse was very clean. The host / chef Scott was awesome. Would definitely come back.
