Universal Studios Hollywood vacations and packages

Dive into a star-studded world of film and adrenaline-pumping rides as you explore one of the oldest working studios in Hollywood. Universal Studios vacation packages combine movie-making action with a relaxing hotel stay for the ultimate A-lister experience. Many of the attractions are based on favorite family films and television shows made by Universal Studios®. Give gravity the slip and get your bones rattled on the Revenge of the Mummy® roller coaster or come face-to-face with Jaws and King Kong if you dare. No Universal Studios trip is complete without a stroll down Universal's CityWalk for entertainment, shopping, and delicious movie-themed dining beside the park.
Part film and TV studio, part entertainment complex and part amusement park with full-throttle fun at every turn.

As one of the oldest working studios in Hollywood, Universal Studios Hollywood™ gives you every chance to glimpse movie-making in action, but the star attractions are the adrenaline-pumping rides.

Many of the rides are based on favorite family films and television shows from theUniversal Studios® stable. Give gravity the slip and get your bones rattled on the Revenge of the Mummy® roller coaster. Hollywood doesn’t do small and the rides fuse pyrotechnics, state-of-the-art technologies, big budgets and even bigger imaginations.

The heart of the park is the Studio Tour®, a tram ride through one of Hollywood’s most famous back lots. Here, you’ll visit the birthplace of many movie classics, and experience earthquakes, floods, fires and all the special effects that the TV and movie industry can throw at you.

An encounter with Jaws is still a Universal Studios® favorite, but one of the most memorable experiences is a face-to-face confrontation with an even bigger beast. King Kong 360® 3-D is a spectacular and immersive ride created by multiple Academy Award winning writer and director Peter Jackson that pitches you into the middle of a battle between the giant ape and a pack of hungry dinosaurs.

When you’re ready to turn down the “exhilaration” dial, make your way to Universal’s CityWalk® where you’ll find three blocks of entertainment, shopping and dining adjacent to the park.

Universal Studios® opened its doors to paying guests in 1915 when enterprising studio founder Carl Laemmle charged people 25 cents to watch silent movie scenes being filmed. Not surprisingly, it became a popular destination and remains so today, all year round. Get a jump on the lines and turn up before the gates open, or purchase tickets beforehand.Universal Studios® is located 10 miles (16 kilometers) northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

Begin your search by choosing your hotel or vacation rental and selecting your travel dates. You can then add extras like flights and car rentals to your package if required. FAQs for your Universal Studios trip

How much do Universal Studios hotel and ticket packages cost?

Travel dates and type of accommodation both affect the price of Universal Studios Hollywood vacation packages. 2024 rates could cost from $371 on Expedia. You can set a maximum price on the filters to only show hotels and vacation rentals within your budget.

Consider the stay length when you start your Universal Studios trip planning. The more days you spend at the park, the more expensive your visit will be, so think about whether you can see the attractions in a shorter time. By booking an on-site hotel, you'll be closer to the action and cut down on travel time, thereby giving you longer at the studios.

What is the cheapest month to visit Universal Studios Hollywood?

If you're looking for cheap Universal Studios package deals, consider visiting out of season, during January, February, or November. The weather is cooler, but the school breaks haven't yet started, so this can be a great time to bag a bargain. May and October are also good choices. Both hotels and park tickets tend to cost more on weekends and during holidays, so aim for a mid-week visit if you can.

How many days are recommended for a Universal Studios visit?

You can see all the main attractions at Universal Studios® in 6–7 hours, so it's possible to visit for a single day. Yet if you want to tick off all the sites, then 2-day weekend getaways to Universal Studios® are ideal. With a couple of days at the park, you won't be rushing around and can spend longer at your favorite spots.

Is it more affordable to stay off-site when visiting Universal Studios?

It can work out cheaper to book an off-site hotel for your trip to Universal Studios®. Prices in and around Los Angeles will be more competitive, and shuttle transfers to the park are often available.

However, before deciding, consider the benefits of staying on-site too. Hotels close to the resort are sometimes themed, making for a fully immersive Universal Studios® experience. Many properties come with pools, spas, and restaurants, and you'll also be much nearer to the main attractions.

What amenities are included in Universal Studios California packages?

By booking vacation packages at Universal Studios Hollywood, you'll be able to include everything you need in one easy click. That way, you can just turn up and enjoy your stay without having to pay for extras while you're away.

You can customize your trip to suit your budget and travel preferences. Everything from flights and car rentals to resorts and activities can be included in your package. Can't make up your mind about tours? Just add them on later.

Where is Universal Studios Hollywood?

You'll find Universal Studios® up in the Hollywood Hills just 10 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The close proximity makes it easy to add on a visit to the city during your stay. If you're flying in, Los Angeles International Airport is about 25 miles from the park. Alternatively, if you're coming from California, the regional Burbank Bob Hope Airport is only 6 miles from Universal Studios®.

How can I make payments for a Universal Studios vacation package?

You can pay for Universal Studios and hotel packages on the Expedia website at the time of booking, so you know that everything is sorted before your trip. Major debit and credit cards are accepted. You can also choose to pay in monthly installments to spread the cost.

For an extra fee, some hotels give you the option of paying at the property rather than in advance. This means that you'll have peace of mind in case your plans change.

Is booking Universal Studios as a package more cost-effective?

Booking Universal Studios packages with hotel and tickets for flights and tours can often be cheaper than paying separately for all the elements of your trip. By using Expedia, you'll have access to a huge number of accommodation options, airfares, and activities. Bundling them together is a cost-effective way of enjoying the park and its amenities.

Buying Universal Studios vacation packages is also the easiest way to plan your stay, taking the hassle out of the travel arrangements so you can relax while looking forward to your trip.

If you can't travel, can you cancel Universal Studios and hotel packages?

By booking Universal Studios package deals on Expedia, you will often be able to select free cancellation, depending on the chosen property. This usually costs a little bit more, but if you think your plans could change or just want to remain a little flexible, this is a good option.

With some Universal Studios hotel and ticket packages, you can make changes to your booking up until 24 hours before your trip. Check the reservation conditions for the exact details.

Be at the entrance when they open, start with one of the most popular rides like Harry Potter ride, then venture down to the lower lot before going through the upper lot. We were able to do almost everything this way - only missing one ride by the time they closed. We saw all the shows too.

Universal is fun, but the lines for every ride can exceed 60-100 minutes on holiday weekends, spring/winter break, and all summer. I highly recommend purchasing the Express Pass during those times or you won't get to see more than 4-5 rides a day.
