## Emplacement
In the Var, it is a city with 2400 years of history. This city is Hyères, about twenty kilometers east of Toulon. Nicknamed the city with palm trees, Hyères has preserved all its charm of yesteryear. To discover it, walk through the picturesque alleys of the old medieval town perched on the hill of Castéou.
Enter through the Massillon gate, which marks the entrance to the historic centre, then wander around to see old houses with colourful facades, brightly coloured stalls or a vaulted passage under the ancient ramparts. On the top of the hill is the castle of the Lords of Fos, built in the eleventh century, and around which the city has developed over time. Now in ruins, the medieval fortress offers its visitors superb views of the bay of Hyères and the massif des Maures!
For a well-deserved little stop, then head to the beautiful place Massillon where you can settle down at one of its pleasant terraces of cafes or restaurants.
Hyères also has beautiful gardens and parks. Be sure to stroll through one of its remarkable gardens such as the Parc Saint-Bernard with exotic and Mediterranean essences, located on the heights of the medieval city, or the Olbius Riquier park punctuated by colorful massifs, palm trees and exotic plants. You also have the Parc Sainte-Claire which dominates the city and whose subtropical species offer a flowering throughout the year. A feast of colors and scents! Finally, the garden of the villa Noailles is a must-see: in addition to its cubist space and Mediterranean garden, you will discover a avant-garde residence of the 1920s where cubes and lights are mixed. (...)
Finally, to end your stay in Hyères, head for one of the pleasant beaches of the city. Very beautiful and long stretches of fine sand, such as those of the Almanarre or the Capte, conducive to swimming and idleness!
