My mother and I stayed two nights in the Pear Tree, and it was a delight to come back from a day of touring to the fluffy down duvet and bathroom with towel warmer. We had one of the two rooms with a private parking area, which was a real plus for two women with joint problems and a tendency to buy books, and while the room was a bit small, it was beautifully furnished and appointed. The gardens are lovely, beautifully landscaped, and the number of birds singing in the evening and morning was amazing. Breakfast was so good we ended up eating way too much, and a complimentary newspaper of our choice was a pleasant surprise. Dinner in the restaurant was good, if not spectacular, but the service was excellent. While the Pear Tree's location makes it an impractical choice for those travelling without a car, if you do have wheels it's very convenient to Bath, Glastonbury, and Wells, among other places. Keep a sharp eye out, though, for the turn-off to Top Lane, as it's not very clearly marked. If you're looking for a romantic weekend get-away, this would be a very nice choice. I'm hoping to bring my husband here next year.
