“Simply perfect for a memorable stay in the heart of Dartmoor. We hadn't planned to stay until a few days before hand, but having seen the fantastic weather forecast decided to book (initially) a 1-night stopover on our way from Shropshire to Looe in Cornwall. When we started to research Ramblers Rest, we simply had to make it a 2-night mini-break, as it sounded so good. We were not disappointed. “Although our stay was fleeting (just one night) we were made to feel extremely welcome by all of the staff. The room lacked a TV, but actually this was an absolute blessing and it made change not to reach for a remote control. Instead there was a DAB radio which was playing a soothing Classic FM when we entered our rather classy country pub hotel. Everything was to a very high standard in our room. We were even welcomed with a short, signed note on quality card wishing us personally, a warm and……

“Unfortunately the hotel had some problems in the kitchen which impacted very badly on the menu for dinner, the breakfast, service (so slow) and noise. It would have been better to fix the problems before reopening or to have had the courtesy to let us know in advance what the situation was. I would have stayed somewhere else. Extremely disappointing as I’ve had lovely stays here in the past. ”

“Superb service, welcome and warmth from all of the staff. Every little touch provided and thought about. Superb location and land for walking. Food awesome cannot praise this hotel enough.”

“I paid higher price for a room with a private bathroom, unfortunately the private bathroom is not in my room, my wife and I had to walk across the public landing, passing another room door, to get to the “private bathroom”. There are small insects too, we don’t mind the spiders, but the flies are quite annoying.”

“My room was in the main building on the first floor, it was really clean and with a good offering of complimentary water and hot drinks.”

“The Moorland Hotel is fabulous. We would definitely recommend it and when we visit the area again we will stay here without hesitation. The food was excellent and the staff were welcoming. Although we didn't take a dog we saw some in the hotel and they were well catered for with a wash station outside (for after a long walk), plenty of water bowls, treats, spare leads, harness and blankets etc. All in all, at the end of our stay we felt rested and relaxed. You can't ask for much more than that.”

“Absolutely fabulous few days away. This is a real gem of a hotel. Quiet and secluded but a real joy to experience. The staff are so helpful and genuine (Rosie, Sharon and Oliver deserve medals) There was plenty of choice for breakfast, the cooked breakfast was tasty and well presented. The evening dinner menu and quality of food was 10/10. I think it could be even better with a slightly extended menu. We will be back x”
