“Had a wonderful stay at The Retreat. Really relaxed atmosphere, gorgeous facilities and comfortable room. Only slight criticism was enough sun loungers by the outdoor pool, could definitely fit some more in so that people don’t have to sit on the grass. There was no one out there to ask for help, and it felt like there was no one really in charge. Same with the restaurant, it felt understaffed and so service was a bit lacking at times. But the staff who did serve us were very friendly.……

“Nice style, comfy beds, but in a car park next to a busy road junction with a view of a concrete tower block. Close to Newbury high street is nice & pub looked nice. Sink wasn’t clean and there was a leak in the bathroom( with a puddle on the carpet outside the bathroom). To be fair the very lovely staff were keen to sort it out & apologetic, but I couldn’t be bothered with it during our brief stay, so left them to resolve it after. It was fine as basic cheap stay.
