Philippines Hotel & Resort Travel Guide

The Philippines is a nation in Southeast Asia located along the Ring of Fire and the Pacific Ocean. Its tropical climate and location have resulted in the islands being one of the best locations in the world for biodiversity. Tourists enjoy the many cheap hotel deals in the Philippines for activities such as mountain climbing, trying the cuisine, and exploring the island's rain forests.

Hotels in the Philippines have taken special notice of the eco-tourists, and many offer sightseeing tours to places such as the Mount Pinatubo crater; Mount Apo, which is the country's tallest mountain; and the stepped mountain terraces that are farmed. Many rooms at hotels in the mountainous areas offer balconies for guests to enjoy the view.

The Philippines are known for having many endemic animals found nowhere else in the entire world, including the tamaraw, the Philippine mouse deer, the palm civet cat, the Visayan warty pig, the spotted deer, the forest dwelling Philippine flying lemur, and dozens of bat species that live throughout the country. The islands are also home to more than 2,400 species of fish and 500 species of coral making it one of the top locations for sea life. Many of the Philippines hotels provide private beach access for visitors to see migratory and nesting birds.

To make the most of discount Philippines hotel packages, be sure to visit major cities such as Manila, the nation's capital and center of culture, education, and government; Caloocan, known for its shopping; and Quezon City, the former national capital and home of many universities. Book reservations for these cities well in advance especially if traveling around Christmas, Easter, or Independence Day, which falls on June 12.

Prices for meals, souvenirs, and other goods are low, and when combined with a cheap Philippines hotel deal, a trip to this nation of many islands is affordable on any budget. While many tourists come here to try the international cuisine or explore the land that Ferdinand Magellan settled in 1521 as a Spanish conquistador, it is the island's welcoming nature and friendly people that make tourists so delighted during their time on the islands.

Philippines hotel deals are most plentiful during the winter months of the year, although tourists can find affordable rates on Expedia at any time.

    "Still good"
Changeover from the Hyatt to New World seems to have been smooth overall. No new investment in terms of the infrastructure though! New carpets, new furniture, especially the beds and chairs, badly needed. Towels are fraying also. New owners/managers need to spend some money quickly for upgrades not just in rooms but nearly everywhere. Fumigation should be considered soon as well as a real cleaning and sanitization of the shower area.

    "As expected.. and more"
A five star hotel would have all the amenities that a traveler (business or otherwise) would expect and more (personal fax machine!) but I was hugely surprised by the personal touch that the front desk personnel afforded us. I have stayed in other five -star hotels during by recent vacation and The Peninsula really takes the cake from the other 2. From (1) upgrading us seeing that it was our first time in their hotel to (2) personally showing us our room and (3) chatting us up and remembering our names (and other details) the next time we saw each other. Security was tight too but expected and appreciated. Concierge was efficient in taking our bags up when we arrived and assisting us when we were checking out. The lobby was wonderfully decorated for Christmas and it was indeed a wonderful welcome to a tired traveler (who has been travelling for more than 24 hours) like me. I am giving this 4 star review because of our Club Lounge and the Spices restaurant experience. The service and attention we received was not the same as those given to other people in the lounge and in the restaurant at that particular moment (we were almost being ignored). I usually shrug these things off but these two tainted my wonderful stay at a fabulous hotel. Still, I am willing to go stay with the hotel again but probably will not do the Lounge nor the Spices again.

"One of the best in the Philippines"
Short version: 4+ star resort in the heart of the Philippines. Longer version: We are from the US, but my wife is originally from the Philippines. Took the extended Filipino family to Shangri-La for a family vacation. Our suite was wonderful - gorgeous views and very comfortable. Staff was excellent and very friendly. The resort was crowded because of a holiday week for Japan (first week in May), so check ahead to see if there is any "surge" from other countries they are expecting. I would rate it 4 stars in comparison to other resorts in the US, and 4+ stars in Asia. Would we go back - yes, we would. Cuisine was excellent, the entire facility was a big hit with the kids.

    "Beach hotels have their benefit"
Great experience. The hotel is right in front of the beach. Bars, restaurants and midnight dance clubs are few minutes walk away. Staff should say hello to guest when they see them. Thats hotel management 101. The pool needs major drainage its slimy water which means its not draining. Bedding is spring not foam. Lhuillier is the investing firm that owns the hotel should hire upper management with hotel management degrees. Security is the best. Their security spreads to the beach. But dont let my review discourage you. This hotel is on a fantastic location.

    "Great hotel, great location! "
I stayed at the Henann Garden Resort for 5 days, 4 nights and it was a great experience. The staff were friendly and the hotel was very well maintained. The pools were also beautiful (the pictures here don't do them justice! ) The breakfast buffet that was included was really good as well. There was a nice mixture of traditional western breakfast items (waffles, french toast, etc.) as well as a mixture of Asian breakfast items (Beef tapa, thai pancakes, various fish dishes, rice, etc.). My only two critiques would be, 1) There was very rarely any cold (or even cool) water available in the shower or sink. This might seem trivial but after a long day on the beach it would have been nice to have a cold shower to cool down. 2) The hotel required a 4000 php security deposit (approx $100 cdn) that I was not expecting to have to pay. There were also some issues with having the deposit returned after checkout and it took a few days to have the funds returned.
