We had dinner and breakfast at the Inn and it was very good. The option to eat outside overlooking the river was a nice bonus. All the staff we dealt with were excellent. The one drawback was the spring mattress which I found to be too soft. We unwound each night with a half-pint on the beautiful terrace that is set along the riverbank. The building is a lovely old hodge-podge of levels. We were at the top of it, which involves a stairs-climb that could be hard for some. There is ample parking (very welcome!). It's at the edge of the village, which meant it was a short, pleasant walk to find country lanes for an evening's stroll. Our room was large, clean and comfortable, with a lovely river view. The breakfast and evening meal were superb. We also enjoyed the quiz on Thursday night. The attentive staff and excellent service complemented a relaxing and enjoyable visit. We would happily stay there again and we will be highly recommending The Abbey Inn to all. Really friendly staff and a lovely room. Located next to an idyllic looking stream with a bar downstairs and great looking food. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and all well cooked. A few minutes walk from the beautiful Buckfast Abbey and a few minutes drive from the quaint shops in Buckfastleigh.
