Always enjoy our stay

This is our third time staying at Casa Misy and second time in this specific apartment. It is close to everything including tons of restaurants, a grocery store and the beach. Although you’re in the bustling area, you still feel a bit secluded when in doors or hanging in the pool. We’ll be back!

Overall good stay

No major issues with the unit, typical issues on the island with limited internet, wish there were more comfortable seating, location good if you want to be in the middle of the action. Place was clean, Miriam who met us and showed us the place was a welcome hostess.

Perfect location

I can’t say enough good things about the rental. The house is so spacious, the shower has both hot and cold water. Every thing was very clean. The location can’t be beat we were steps away from Hildago street. Reynaldo and Myerium were excellent to work with.

Great location

Right in the middle of downtown; everything is within walking distance. Normally when we go to Isla we get a golf cart but didn’t have to by staying here. This place is close proximity to the ferry and the marina if you want to go on a fishing trip. If you get a chance go to the Tiny Gecko Bar, which is on the boardwalk, great guacamole, food and cheap beer. Restaurants, convenience stores and grocery stores are all within easy walking distance. Every time I made contact with the owner I received a response back within the hour and many times within minutes.

The stay was great, place was excellent, location was perfect!

Got to the island late, they met me there with a smile! The place was clean, had everything you would need. Clean drinking water, washer and dryer! The condo was super nice on 1st floor with its own pool. Met the rest of the tenants and we chilled out on 4th floor where there was another pool with a great view. Location couldn't be better. Everything very close. We loved our stay, and would highly recommend it.

Casa Missy

We all enjoyed the Casa Missy in Isla Mujeres. It was great having a full size frig. and a washer/dryer on site. We didn't have a single problem. The only downside was the dipping pool and patio never get any sunlight. And you can't see anything outside on the patio, but I'm not sure how that would be solved. We all enjoyed our stay there for the 2 weeks.

Great location!

Great location just a block off Hidalgo, the walking avenue and center of activity. The flat could have been a little cleaner as the lamps and such were very dusty and the towels could have been a little newer. The furniture in the living room was not very comfortable for hanging out. The “club” next door was very loud, like the dj was in the room. Staying in centro, noise is to be expected, just wanted to Inform future renters. Loved it was a first floor location. Miriam was lovely greeting us and communicating. Great location for celebrating new years and being downtown.

Likes: Great location, in the heart of downtown. 5 minutes walk to the beach. Conveniently located with shops all around. Dislikes: Property condition really needs improvement. Needs major remodeling. House is not clean, mold on shower curtains. Toilet barely working. Bed sheets and towels needs to be replaced. Sofa chairs are uncomfortable, and accent pillows needs to be wash.

Disappointing condition, great location

Attended a wedding on the island. Shared this VRBO with groom's Mother. Originally booked a different VRBO on the island. Groom suggested we stay north near the rehearsal/reception dinners. Groom's mother found this place and suggested we rent here. I saw that it had favorable ratings but did not delve deep into the reviews as it was a late booking.Main issues encountered- Back bathroom-mold in the shower stall, shower curtain bathroom walls and peeling paint on the wall.Back bedroom-ceiling fan (all fans) caked with dirt/dust, no lock on sliderFamily room-2 holes in floor, one covered by a boardFront bathroom- 4th night encountered larger lizard on the wall and simultaneously spotted very large roach on the wall. 5th night encountered two more very large roaches in the same area.Didn't report mold and dirt immediately as we were in and out with wedding events and didn't want to upset groom's mother as she found the place and was stressed out with wedding plans. But the last two encounters with roaches on the last night were the tipping point and reported the next morning upon check out. I was accused of wanting a free stay as I asked for money back. I was also told roaches and lizards are part of island life. Maybe this is true but they don't need to live indoors. Was also told the property was 15 years old. The description of this property was listed as new. 15 years old is not new and is deceptive. I'm sure those ceiling fans have 15 years of dirt. Wouldn't rec

The location is a TEN, but the accommodations....

Casa Misy is in a great location. A short walk will get you to the beach, ferry, shopping, and food. In the VRBO listing they use the word "new". There is nothing inside that has been replaced or painted in over 10 years. The interior has seen better days. We were lucky enough to have good weather and not have to spend much time seated inside. The couch is like a church pew with a thin homemade cushion and pillows. The clothes washer was unplugged so they knew it was not working prior to our arrival. This was not mentioned. Since we were staying for 7 days we used a laundry service. There is something up with the building plumbing. When we walked in there was a distinctive sewage smell. There is a piece of plywood covering a hole in the floor so you can listen to the building plumbing in use. We would stay here again for 2-3 days and then oddities may not have been so noticeable. Staying here for a week allowed or the flaws to become obvious. The pool was nice!

Nice location. Felt safe even leaving kids there for massages.nice locked gate. Several times we came home to people working on pool/pump problems without our knowledge. Few sanitation issues-could have had dish soap and a new sponge. It definitely wouldn’t cost much to make this property way better. The hosts were fine but this house needs cleaning. Begin by tossing out the dirty old throw pillows!!! Over all good enough but because it would be so easy for these hosts to correct things I am leaving this partially bad review. No disrespect just being honest for future renters.

This apartment is very basic. Yes, the beds are comfortable, the A/C works, it is in the center of Centro, so very convenient to restaurants and beaches, and it is close enough to walk from the ferry. Unfortunately, it is the least equipped VRBO we have stayed in. There were few extras included. There was no hand soap in the bathrooms or the kitchen, no paper towels, and very uncomfortable living room furniture. There is a washer and dryer, but there is no detergent to use. We needed to go to the store to buy paper towels, toilet paper (there were 6 of us and we ran out of what they had left us,) and they only left 5 beach towels, so we needed to buy a 6th. The kitchen is very understocked, ie, one knife which was hardly sharp enough to cut limes. Also, in every other rental we have stayed in they have Microdyn, or one like it, to wash produce with. I'm certain any non Mexican staying there has left the rest of their bottle, but it must get tossed. I'm only mentioning these things because if you stay there you need to know that you will have to shop to supply your basics. The primary bedroom has thin curtains with a very bright light that shines all night long from across the street. It is like daylight all night long. One of the bedrooms had very tall windows that don't close. From this room you can hear residents staying in other accommodations all day. I don't think we would stay there again. We don't mind rustic, but this was very rustic and basic.

VRBO on Isla Mujeras

Our party was 6 adults. The host was very responsive to any questions. He responded promptly with though explanations. The check in process was flawless. We had communication with the onsite manager Mariam. She sent me a location pin and was waiting to show us in and how to work the lights, etc. There was filtered water for us to drink and then we could refill our water bottles for when we went out. The house is small but adequate. We weren’t there much as there is so much to do out and about. The mattresses were on the firm side which I liked but if you like a softer bed this may not be to your comfort. One of the couples has a sleep number bed home and found this mattress not at the right number! 🙃 For me I slept like a baby. Bath towels and beach towels provided. Washer and dryer worked well. The pool was a plus and we used it a couple of times. This location was minutes walk to the beautiful north beach. Shopping near by, good restaurants and a 7-10 minute walk to the ferry. Golf cart rentals close if you want to tour the island. I would definitely rent this location again.

This property did not work for us

We were to be long term renters(6 months) and the furniture was very uncomfortable in the living room. The futon couch was hard as a rock, the one chair was so low it was hard to get in and out of, the other 2 chairs were patio furniture chairs. Only 2 chairs were provided for the dining table (there were 4 of us); one of us had to sit on a patio foot stool for every meal for 3 months. There were only 2 small drawers in the 2 main bedrooms; none in the third so we lived out of our suitcases. The bathrooms had a very unpleasant odor no matter how often or how thoroughly cleaned. The ceiling fans were caked with grease and the house was so musty that some of our shoes, plus items in the safe (our passports) actually molded. There was no back up gas tank for cooking purposes, only 1 saucepan and a skillet and not a full set of dishes. When the coffeepot quit working it was replaced with a used one with a broken lid. The vent fan in the laundry room was caked with lint. We had a very limited supply of linens which necessitated doing laundry almost daily. Several of the towels were very thin and torn. The pool was out of use for 10 days due to improper maintenance. There are 2 upstairs apartments (of which we were unaware prior to arrival) overlooking the pool which negated any privacy in the pool area. Apartment entrance was ouside the kitchen door so people constantly looking in. A street light shined straight into the bedroom and living room and there was an inadequate bedroom curtain and no living room curtain to block it.The location was as advertised; just a block from Hidalgo. Very busy street with traffic noise day and night. The internet service went down and we had to renew it and wait for a refund from the owner. After 3 months we had enough. The owner refused to negotiate a refund so we cleaned the house, did all the laundry and gave back the keys. Lost 3 months rent money but moved to a lovely condo where the goal seems to be making sure we are well pleased. We would not recommend this property for an Isla Mujeres vacation.

Wonderful place

We absolutely loved staying here! My daughter had stayed here and recommended it to us. The building is in a perfect location close to the ferry dock and the best beaches. The apartment itself is very spacious and well kept. Miriam greeted us when we arrived and was very responsive to all of our needs. I highly recommend this property and will definitely book it again in the future.

Needs major updates and deep cleaning

Pros- Location is good, Miriam was very attentive and answered texts right away. Cons- mold/mildew everywhere, including all the inside chair cushions, couch (if you can call it that), and both bedside lamps in the middle bedroom. Even the envelope for the housekeeper tip is full of mold.The pool is cold, never in the sun, and is literally a pigeon toilet. There isn't anything on the ledge above to keep them off, so they perch up there and poop in the pool. There is actually a pile of poop in the pool. The smoke detector wasn't even on the ceiling and had no battery in it. The sliding door of the master by the pool and the window in the kitchen by the water system don't lock (we had to find something to wedge in). The door handle to the main door fell off everytime we opened it. The sliding door to the middle bathroom is loud and difficult to slide and the lock literally pulled right out of the wall with the anchors attached. The drinking water system is room temp, looks rusty, and runs constantly. The walls and floors are filthy throughout the house. The security gate lock stopped working halfway through our trip. Miriam came and looked at it, but it was never fixed. We pretended to punch in the code every time we entered so people on the street didn't notice it wasn't locked. All in all, I would not stay here again. I wish I was able to post pictures, because I have one of everything I mentioned .
