Weekend getaway

Came for a long weekend and was able to enjoy the sights and beach. The whole island is within 5 minutes each way of the place which is nice. Tons of small businesses. Would definitely recommend staying here

Very nice

This is a beautiful location. I was hoping for a better view of the ocean from the cabana, but it's a quick walk to get there. Be sure to read the entire message in VRBO - there's lots of information that slipped by me because I skimmed - my bad! Loved the few days we were there even with once full day of rain.

Peaceful beach cabana

The cabana was so cute and peaceful. If you have a lifted truck you will not fit under the cabana but there were a few spots to park which worked out. The sun deck had a perfect view of the beach and it was a very short walk to the beach. The location was perfectly placed between hatteras village and Frisco.I would highly recommend this adorable cabana.

The cabana was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Everyone in the area, the group of cabanas, were very friendly, neighborly and had good fishing advice. The owner was available and quick to respond to questions we had. It was a great stay!

Beautiful little cabana

I loved the little cabana. Very close to the beach and cabana was attractive and clean. Didn’t have any communications with the host but didn’t need them as instructions were very clear on VRBO site and did get the needed final check in instructions three days before my checkin date which was exactly what it said on Vrbo site. I would come back to the cabanas.

Great stay

The unit was clean and well maintained. It was located in a nice area and my spouse and I felt quite comfortable in the unit. All of the appliances worked fine. If we travel to Outer Banks again, this will be our first choice of places to stay.

Cabana Stay

We have a wonderful week staying in Log Shaker of Salt. The good far outweighed the bad. Minor bads: The Two large stove burners didn’t work, CD player didn’t work “nocd” code for multiple disks. No problem for us, as we don’t usually watch TV on vacation. They can use a high table on top deck for snacks and drinks while watching the sunset. Overall fine vacation. with Netflix and Prime.

Much needed change of scenery and relaxation!

We ABSOLUTELY loved it...BUT...We were under the impression from the online photos and description was that our Cabana was Oceanfront and Beachfront....online had us to believe our porch stepped right on to the beach...the Cabana was actually 5 or 6 cabanas away from the beach....All that being said...WE TRULY ENJOYED OUR STAY!!!

Quick getaway

We enjoyed our stay however when we did encounter an issue (the AC stopped working on our last day) We could not get in touch with host. I left two messages and called once and was never contacted. We left a note for the cleaners so that hopefully it would get to the host and the issue could be fixed prior to new renters coming in.

A great vacation.

We had a wonderful stay. In spite of a few mishaps. The community was very pleasant. Everywhere we traveled in the area all of the people were very polite and had lots to share. There is no need to be concerned about safety however, always just be cautious about your surroundings. We ventured out with our bikes for several days to check out our neighborhood. We even did two boat rides. The first was a mini cruise to see the sunset beautiful. The other was to go fishing. We definitely will return to this place again.

Room for 2 with a view.

I realize we are at the beach, but it seemed as if the outside had not been cleaned since the storms so there was lots of sand that kept being tracked in. Refrigerator did not cool well enough and I do not think the vacuum sucked sufficiently to remove inside sand. Having had rental property before, I know it is important for the owner to know any problems. We had a nice stay. Thanks

Nice little place to stay

I loved the location & the size of the cabana was just enough for 2 people. I would be nice to have curtains other than the sheers due to the sun rise location. The bathroom sink needs a little drain cleaner but other than that the stay was nice & had everything we needed. The cleaner Angela left us a goodie bag with some essentials which was nice. Loved the rooftop deck & the short walk to the beach. The only bad experience we had through no fault of the property owners were some inconsiderate neighbors who didn't think it was a problem to let their dogs bark at 5:44 in the morning or the other neighbor doing loud conference calls. We did fix that problem with our own radio & I think he got the message. Would stay here again for sure.

In Need Of Repairs & Maintenance

The owner(s) of unit #22 have not maintained it. The pictures have to be 10+ years old. They furniture on the main deck is falling apart; we could not use the table and benches at all. The other furniture needs a good cleaning. The rooftop deck should not be used; the structural bolts are completely rusted and while we were there, part of that decking fell off and landed on the deck below right in front of the entrance to the home. The first floor “tiki bar” area was a complete mess; it is dirty and has not been maintained. Inside the house was okay; however, it is in need of maintenance as well. The kitchen faucet leaks and the bed is HORRIBLE. I messaged the “host” however I have not received a response.

Bugs and cnfusion

Cabana was unclean. There were bugs and range, back of tv and top of refrigerator dirty, sticky and dusty. Unit needs pest control. Had t disinfect unit. Lower level outdoor light did not work. Another couple had code to our door and were letting themselves in because they were told they had same cabana. No one could reach a representative to clear up the confusion. No remote for DVD. We drove miles to rent from Red Box and could not watch our movie. Beach and view were lovely.

Needs some attention

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in Hatteras. Location was great, the cabana was nice and clean. It is perfect for two. There are several small complaints that would have easily made our stay perfect. There were at least 3 light bulbs blown, and the sun catcher still needed to be dusted (noted in a prior review). The deck furniture on the perch (top deck) needs to be replaced. There's only one semi-safe chair to sit in (broken but stable enough to sit in). There was no match to it and the reclining chair had the arm fall off as my wife sat in it-- almost causing her to fall onto the deck. A folding chair had to be brought up so that we could both be up there at the same time. The deck is a very desirable place with the small interior. It is a great place to sit in the morning and evening and look at the ocean. The keyless entry was broken (not allowing us to lock the door for the majority of the week). This was addressed with the owner mid week however we checked out on Saturday afternoon and nothing had been done about it to that point. I did try to replace the batteries for her however this did not seem to be the problem. Over all we gave a 3/5 because of the patio furniture and the keyless entry. We had a great time and would visit Hatteras again. Probably would not stay at The Lost Shaker though. Owner just doesn't seem to be responsive to the needs of the property as many of the same issues are in one of the VRBO reviews as well as in her guest book at the cabana. Sorry, just being honest.

No communication until a fire alarm was going off. Attempted communication for almost a month to my stay. Erin L refused to respond to emails, voice calls, and text messages not only thru me but from vrbo until we message saying their for alarm was disconnected due to continued beeping. VRBO couldn't resolve any issues because Erin would not respond to any contact. The decks were dirty and nasty. The top balcony was unsafe, The outside table was broken and the bar below the place was so filthy we couldn't use it. You are in the 7th cabana from the walk way to get to the beach. The pictures are misleading and they obvously have no pride in their property. Trash was in the parking area and storage. The fridge got extremely hot, which means it's about to go. The floor inside was dirty. The blind was damaged. Even their neighbor who owns the property right next door said every guest complains about Erin and her 2 properties there and lack of communication or giving a care about their needs. This was our honeymoon and all the ongoing issues and stressed that was added on by Erin refusal to respond. I Messaged her numbers today to complain directly to her once again about not responding and she threatened me with a complaint against me? Lol. I have already filed a consumer complaint against her and vrbo, in the process of filling Better business bureau complaints in Hatteras as well as Virginia Beach where they reside.
