“Beautiful position at base of Haytor Rocks. Parking easy and plenty of room inside and outside no matter what the weather. Staff great. Would recommend try and book with breakfast included. Likely to be a better deal. It is a shame the hotel has yet to install an electric charging point. There is one at an adjacent tourist facility but out or order. Other than that great!”

“We stayed in a ground floor twin room at the Cromwell Arms during the heatwave of July 2026. The room was pleasant, the beds comfortable. Whilst there was an additional heater in the wardrobe, a fan would have been gratefully received. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. All the staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant. Overall a good place to stay.”

“The hotel needs air conditioning in all bedrooms as the rooms were too hot. There were no fridges in the bedrooms to keep water cold etc which was disappointing as we had to ask for glasses of ice to do this. Staff were exceptional and the spa and swimming pool were really good. A great location on the edge of Dartmoor with access to some great walks.”

“Had a lovely night away. Room was clean and nice to have a fridge with fresh milk for coffee etc. Breakfast was delicious and lots of choice. Outside areas are great for relaxing and nice to have an outside pool. In a quiet area but within walking distance to the beach, train station and town. Great hosts. Would definitely recommend. “Can’t fault anything Lynn and Steve were perfect hosts very friendly, breakfast was great. Everything was spotless, great place to stay Very close to beach and restaurants and bus routes”

“Newly built hotel with modern very clean design. Rooms with sea view have a spectacular view. Great location on bus route around Torbay. Breakfast and dinner of good standard. Staff are very efficient, attentive and pleasant. One thing to note is the £15 per day car parking fee.”

“Food was great, staff very helpful, bar and dining room very tidy and clean, good range of drinks, both alcoholic and soft although I am out of touch with prices so had a bit of a shock. This is not a negative, just reality. Plenty of parking and convenient at the rear to avoid stairs. Some areas are in need of decorating such as stairwell and corridors however not terrible. Outside areas need tidying around the back of the building but the beer garden/smoking area was good. Wheel chair……

“A warm welcome, pleasant staff and a good breakfast choice, but the lift was out of order, the pool was out of use, the whole place looks VERY tired and I doubt if it has seen any paint this millenium. Definitely not worth £172 I paid for B&B!”

“I really liked this hotel, it was our second visit but, they completely messed up our dinner. We pre ordered the roast pork but, unfortunately they ran out! We ended up with ham, egg and chips which was laughable, the ham looked like thinly sliced spam, the egg was overcooked and we had a few oven chips! It was so bad we got up and walked out, which i have never done before and I’m 67! I have emailed the hotel but, no reply! We won’t be going back!”
