Pretty Old Forge in peaceful, scenic setting

Tastefully furnished and decorated, the property is surrounded by stunning countryside and just minutes from the South West Coast Path, The Old Forge is a perfect base to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The beaches of Beesands and Torcross are within a 10 minute drive and the stunning Blackpool Sands a little further along the coast.

The Old Forge is a very romantic setting, particularly as it is quiet and secluded being tucked away at the end of a farm track. Delightful sunrises and can be enjoyed whilst sitting outside with a nice cup of tea/coffee. Or sunsets with a glass of wine or a good cold beer on the small but pretty area outside the forge entrance which looks over a barn or why not wander up the steps to the guests garden behind the Forge the see further afield where sleepy thatched cottage lights glow warmly.The towns of Kingsbridge and Dartmouth are within a 30 minute drive and local shopping facilities within 10 -15 minutes.

From parking area, steps up to Front door and into Kitchen: fitted with electric hob, microwave, fridge with ice box. Sitting/Dining Room: TV, DVD, dining area, double sofa bed. Bedroom: king size double bed. Shower Room: large shower cubicle with shower, WC, basin (washing machine).
Outside: lovely gardens with sitting areas, BBQ.
The property is suitable for 2 adults (max) and 2 children
Please note that the access to the garden is via steps which are narrow in places, without handrail, and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility or children
A well behaved dog is welcome - please ensure kept on a lead at all times outside the property and in the vicinity of the farm next door.

Beautiful Devon

The location of the property was great, although it was hard to find for us. A few signs along the road would have been helpfull. We enjoyed the beatiful area, so it was worth the search! The house was okey. The bed was fine, a good shower, cosy living and almost everything we needed. The hosts were helpfull,but we didn't experience the warm kindness other guests descriped at all. That was disappointing but maybe we expected too much after those references. Anyway, a smile or a small question out of interest would haved made us feel real welcome. I enjoyed a novel set in the environment, what a good idea to set that in the house! (and usefull to practise my english!)

Lovely hidden away place

Really lovely and quiet stay - pictures look nice but the place itself is nicer still! We would have loved to have stayed longer and had more time to walk and explore the nearby beaches.

Off the beaten track peace and beauty

A quiet retreat with great views, within walking distance of the coast. We had a wonderful time enjoying the beauty of the Devon countryside. Our host was helpful and gave good suggestions for walks and eateries.

Wonderful break from reality

Lovely little house and surroundings, ideal to switch off. Perfect for hiking and discovering beautiful beaches along the coast. The house was exceptionally clean and tastefully furnished. Many things to do for the whole family within a small radius.

Perfect short break

A lovely accommodation, very clean and comfortable. Location was great with a lovely walk along the coast to Beesands and a little bay and beach a 5 minute walk. Have no hesitation in recommending the Forge or he hosts.

Lovely, secluded location with easy access to coastal paths

Liz & Ivan communicated extremely well throughout the booking process. The cottage was ready for us, despite arriving an hour early. It was a particularly cold spell of weather, but the wood burner warmed up the living room extremely well and the electric blanket on the bed was a nice touch. Overall, the cottage had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. Peace, quiet and access to the coast (5 minute walk). Amazing views from the cliff tops and great, fresh seafood at the Cricket Inn in Beesands.

Wonderful Getaway

We only had 2 days to spend at this lovely property as we were on route to visit friends. It was the perfect place to chill - away from all the busy-ness of everyday life. The area has gorgeous walks/scenery. The hosts were very welcoming and provided everything you may need to make a comfortable break. The little cottage is very cute and well appointed. HAD A BRILLIANT SHORT STAY

The property is great and we had a fantastic couple of nights, obviously, 2 days was not long enough to explore the beautiful coastline but it was a great last-minute booking to get away from busy life. Liz and Ivan are really nice hosts and provided so much information about the area. We will be back again soon!

Old Forge cottage in relaxing location

The property was perfect, 10 minutes walk to Hallsands beach and great coastal walk access. Local pub The Cricketers at Beesands is 25 mins walk or 5 mins in the car but you will need to book in advance as it’s very popular. Cottage was really clean, we wanted for nothing and Liz was really helpful and gave us local advice. The only thing I would advise is to stock up on amenities before you get to the cottage as it is quite remote but the remoteness is a key attraction of the cottages location. We will definitely be returning.
