Luxury Oceanfront Guest House in Gated Community

Luxury Oceanfront Guest House in Gated Community

10/10 Excellent
"Joe & Cindy's Luxury Oceanfront Guest House in Pepeekeo was the perfect place for my girlfriend and I to stay during our visit to Big Island. It is beautifully and comfortably designed and had everything we needed. We cooked several meals here and everything necessary was supplied. You have to check out the water view from the cliff - it's outstanding and worthy of photos and a picnic. The extremely private cottage is a short drive from Hilo and the directions and check in/check out processes were so easy. Joe & Cindy made themselves available, yet they weren't overbearing like some hosts. We would definitely stay here again when we return!"

Luxury Oceanfront B-n-B Suite Gated Cliffside Estate - Banyan - Beach 10m walk

8/10 Good
"The property itself is beautiful, and it’s obvious a tremendous amount of work has gone into creating and maintaining it. The grounds are immaculate, peaceful, and unique, the suite was spotless and comfortable, and the breakfasts each morning were excellent. It’s a truly special setting. The only reason we’re giving four stars instead of five is because the hosting experience didn’t feel as warm or welcoming as we had hoped. While the owners clearly take pride in what they’ve built, many of our interactions felt more transactional than hospitable. We left with the impression that opportunities to experience more of the property or interact with the animals and farm were generally reserved for paid experiences, rather than simply being part of staying there.Communication was also slower than expected at times, and a few interactions came across as dismissive or condescending, which kept us from feeling completely at ease as guests.Overall, the property itself is exceptional and we genuinely enjoyed our stay. If you’re looking for a beautiful, quiet place to relax, it’s an excellent choice. Just know that the accommodations far exceeded the hospitality we experienced from the hosts."

River View Rainforest Tiny Cabin with Kitchenette (No Cleaning Fee)

River View Rainforest Tiny Cabin with Kitchenette (No Cleaning Fee)

8/10 Good
"This tiny cabin is a great blend of roughing it with conveniences. The toilet and shower stall are full size and normal. The small fridge, cooktop and large sink made for a useful kitchenette space while being on the screened porch to keep heat out of the sleeping room. The bunkbed is a clever use of space, with a decent mattress and lots of pillows. The hosts were responsive to texts and located not too far away, just in case. Checking in and out was a breeze, and all instructions were very clear. The downside is just the natural environment of the rainforest. With no AC and minimal ability to move the air, the humidity is oppressive. The presence of the nearby waterfall is lovely but the tree frogs overwhelm the peacefulness and the mosquitoes are vicious. The building is suffering a bit from the constant moisture. It was also disconcerting to see a huge feral hog on the driveway, and witness the extensive digging they have done all around the property. I certainly came away feeling like it was a true break from civilization!"

Waterfalling Estate is an oceanfront compound on the Big Island unlike any other

Waterfalling Estate is an oceanfront compound on the Big Island unlike any other

10/10 Excellent
"The property is everything advertised and then some. It is beautiful and restful with the waterfall and waves surrounding you every moment. The two things to note are that only 3 bedrooms have A/C and on hot summer days it gets stifling hot, but those days are rare, we had one night like that in our week. The bunk room is not a room but a space that has a curtain that is a makeshift wall. These items should be noted in the property description so that visitors expectations are set correctly. The property and the trip we had was worth every penny and I can't stress enough how little stress I felt at the Waterfalling Estate. We had an amazing week that the 4 families and 17 of us will never forget."
