I Will Return

Posted Oct 28, 2016
Pros: The owners are wonderful. Jess met me on check in, she did confirm that I had reserved a single and that it would be small, I agreed. She showed me my room and bathroom. Then I was told about the breakfast slips to fill out for the in morning. My room was small but comfortable, as it was only me and I only planned on sleeping there, this was not a problem. The bed was comfortable. There is very bold wallpaper throughout the inn but I believe this only adds to its charm and character of this old house. Jess told me of two places to eat in the village that are within walking distance. I did eat at both of them during my stay and recommend both. I filled out my breakfast slip for in the morning. The real treat of this place was Jess's husband Doug (just call me Dougie). He prepares the breakfast in the morning. Everything was as I requested and very delicious. As I was the only one at breakfast, Dougie and I would chat every morning. He'd asked what I did the day before, if I enjoyed it and what I was doing that day, then offer suggestions. We'd also chat about the history of the area, things back in States, etc. This was the most favorite part of my visit to Inchrye. I hated to leave here, but will definitely put it on my list when planning a future trip to Scotland. Also if you walk down the grass strip between houses you get wonderful morning views of Moray Firth. This was a good jumping off point to visit other areas in the Highlands.
Cons: There is nothing that I didn't like, but next time I will upgraded to a larger room, as the single is a wee small. Also coat hooks on back of door instead of rack would be great. Other than that I can't complain.
Location: Two restaurants with in walking distance, market that stays open until 10pm in the village, Fort George is a mile away. Near INV airport.

Great shower,

Posted Oct 8, 2016
Pros: The morning shower.
Cons: Quite a lot
On the positive side the shower was great, powerful and hot. Unfortunately the tiny single room was not at all restful due to the huge overwhelming patterns on the wallpaper and which are also throughout the property. There was an ironing board propped up in the room together with an iron, but no hook anywhere to hang things up. Had to hang my coat on the curtain tie back hook. The cooked breakfast was a mixed experience. Breakfast has to be ordered the night before, the instant I sat down in the morning the breakfast came and was taken away again when the proprietor saw that I was having cereal first. Both mornings the bacon was very hard as if it had been cooked the night before and re-heated. There had been a strong smell of fried food when I arrived late evening. The bed had a plastic mattress cover on and whilst I appreciate why they are used it made the bed very uncomfortable and unpleasant to sleep on so I took it off. I found the whole environment much to busy, lots and lots of ornaments, personal photos and the huge patterned loud wallpaper everywhere. It was disappointing that the dining room had no window in it especially given the beautiful position and potential views from the property. Disturbed at night by other loud guests in a neighbouring room, moving between rooms and calling across the landings to each other. Everything clean but overall not the most welcoming or relaxing place.

Handy place to stay near Inverness

Posted Sep 14, 2016
Pros: Doug & Jess were very welcoming and helpful, very comfy bed and a great nights sleep
Location: Easy walking distance of two places to eat, right next to the beach with good view over the Moray Firth. Handy for the airport and Inverness area.
Good communications throughout the process, I have stayed before a few times and the owners Doug & Jess do a great job.

Great Hotel

Posted Sep 13, 2016
Pros: Liked the pleasant attitude of owner, comfortable room and facilities and great food that was served to order.
Cons: Nothing, great experience.
Location: Close to distilleries, historic sites and beautiful lochs.
Very welcoming knowledgeable hotelier. Lovely old hotel with clean, comfortable rooms. Excellent well cooked breakfast. Someone who could teach the Black bull and Dumbuck how to run a hotel. Great place to stay.

The twin room was comfortable and a decent size. Very nice, modern bathroom. We were warmly greeted by the owner. Good range of breakfast options, though the execution was only satisfactory and the breakfast room a bit cramped. We were disappointed not to see any dolphins, though this cannot be attributed to the guesthouse!
