If I could give this sorry excuse for a hotel a minus 0 stars I would! I got the hotel to visit for a funeral. Upon arrival the hotel is clearly outdated and the rust is appearnt from the outside of the building. The hotel was barely clean and water would not empty out of the shower. The toliet does not flush.To make matters even worse when I got into the bed I was bit by a bedbug. The conditions were so deplorable I left after barely a few hours in the room. The clerk at the desk was so rude and refused to issue a refund and banned me from the property. Please avoid this place at all cost and read the reviews before booking.

The cleanliness of the room was subpar! The floors were not clean, the chest of drawers was filthy (although there was no hardware to open the drawers), as was the heating/cooling unit. Thank goodness I always carry cleaning supplies with me or we may have opted to sleep in the car. The fan in the bathroom did not work. There were no cups, no refrigerator or microwave and the furniture was worn. Lastly, the outside esthetics were terrible. The railings were rusted, the stairwells needed upkeep and elevator floor was dirty. This stay was especially disappointing because we stayed at the Red Roof Inn in Worthington, OH the day before and had a totally different experience. I would never recommend the Red Roof Inn - University to anyone.

The shower was broken, there was very poor water pressure, the toilet did not flush well, the dresser was falling apart, there was no coffee pot in the coffee maker, and the fridge did not get cold. That being said the room smelled nice and was clean.

Never again Toledo...
Worst. Red Roof. Ever! I don't normally write reviews but I had to share my pain on this one. Room, elevator, and walkways all smell like cigarettes and pot smoke. Got a non-smoking room? Doesn't matter, it WILL smell like smoke. They will offer another room, but you know that one will smell the same as the whole place stinks and is littered with cigarettes. Like being woken up first thing in the morning by piercing alarms outside? Get use to it, they lasted for hours because a water pipe burst and they cant get the alarm to stop blaring for more then one min at a time. Like walking into loads of dog poop on the walkways? Like barely plowed, slippery parking lots? Like requesting a room on the first floor over a month in advance due to a disability but they are like nah, no rooms, even though the first floor isn't even half filled? How about paying extra for a room with a fridge and microwave, I mention this because when I asked if they had them at the other two Red Roofs I stayed at on my trip they laughed and said all rooms have them now. Not here tho, noooo, you have to "upgrade". Room was very small and cramped, my fault for not checking the size, but to be fair, I have never seen such a small room before. I could go on but I dont want to waste anymore time on this dump. Spend the extra bucks and go anywhere else, even Motel 6 is better, and that's saying something

I paid for a superior king room that was handicapped accessible and was told that it was closed for maintenance. And I was downgraded to a terrible small room with no refund of the difference in price. I was basically told too bad. This is unacceptable in my opinion.

Won’t stay again. Below my standards. But if you want a less expensive alternative then it is okay. Convenient to main drag and restaurants so good location. Outside needs sprucing up so as not to look so third world. A simple paint job would do wonders! Matress not comfortable. Thin and obviously worn. Pillows thin. Clean overall. Ammenities sparce, one very small bottle of conditioner shampoo and one lame bar of soap, no lather or scent. One bar of face soap that I didn’t use. no daily maid service, had to request that (eco contribution I suppose). Water pressure decent. Had to pay $15/night extra for refrigerator and microwave which aI didn’t appreciate. 2 star comfort quality. Reception men were nice enough.

There was no fire alarm — just loose wires. The deadbolt on the door was stuck so that the handle required jiggling to open and close the door. The rust stains in the bathtub are disgusting. The heater did not work. The gouge in the floor near the TV is severe.

No fridge or microwave in room. Does not look like picture. Pot smoke everywhere. Trash over flowing. Just nasty. Needs attention before the city shuts it down.

Sorry your stay did not meet your expectation. Yes that is where trash is placed before Maintenace takes it to garbage is taken to the dumpster. This takes place twice a day. As for marijuana smoking. Medical marijuana is legal in the state of ohio. We do appreciate your business.

I didn’t stay at the hotel. Called to cancel because my partner is ill and we couldn’t make it . They told me it was nothing they could do. I’m aware of policy but , had we known she would get sick we wouldn’t have made plan.But that’s not how it works .The rate of the room was fair. But the staff wasn’t very helpful and concerned about the situation and didn’t really want to help
