Great location, comfortable bed, very friendly staff, lovely bar and fantastic breakfast

The staff, led by Ivor, is extraordinary, attentive and caring. They set a tone that carries the place, makes it warmly and quintessentially Scottish. Breakfast is superb, the Grand Cafe very good, and the location amid the heart of The Royal Mile utterly perfect.

I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this place. I was initially a little skeptical about staying in a hotel over a brewpub, but it was really perfect for our family (two parents and two teens). The staff could not have been more friendly, and really went out of their way to accommodate us in every way. Having the brewpub there was actually veryy convenient - from beers on the terrace to burger dinners for our (picky) teens, to late night hot dogs, to the tasty breakfasts each morning. We never had any issue with noise. The location was also fantastic - just a block from the Royal Mile, but slightly removed from the touristy upper end. And the rooms were spacious, with fun decor - the guitar and turntables in the room were a welcome touch. All in all, we had a tremendous stay. Thanks!
