“Dog friendly. Oven unusable as filthy dirty. Grease +++. Cobwebs in main bedroom. Old drink can down the side of the sofa. Moved the sofa and dirty underneath. Mould on a lot of the walls. Bathroom door handle very loose. Shower height adjuster comes away from the wall if you try to use it. Hole in the main bedroom door. Outside lighting poor. Path to property very uneven. Paving slabs need re-laying as serious trip hazard. Decking area very slippery. Bbq unusable. Lack of information pack. Bin……

“The hotel is a few minutes walk from Mallaig train station, and the ferry terminal. There are two supermarkets and a few restaurants around the village so that one can easily get refreshments. I was amazed that the hotel is in a delicate traditional wooden decor, and has a relaxing garden terrace. I also enjoyed the window view a lot! The room was clean and it’s reception was excellent. I strongly recommend anyone who plan to visit any Hebrides islands, give the hotel a chance,.”

“A very cosy house right in the heart of Fort Augustus. The living room was lovely with the fireplace, though we forgot to ask for more firewood and it got a bit cold at night. It was very peaceful—I think we were the only guests! The room is small if you're travelling with luggage, but very comfortable and warm. The bathroom was perfectly adequate. Breakfast was basic but decent.”

“We had the most delightful stay at the Whispering Pines Hotel. Spotless hotel with delightful and polite staff. The night was very stormy but we felt warm and cosy and despite the numerous times the electricity cut out the generators kicked in and we were back on with power with no fuss. My only criticism is the meal prices were way too high and the choices were too limited”
