"This is an old house, and certain features could be deemed charming. The beds were comfortable, and we appreciated some of the amenities. However, it seemed worn and bare-bones in some aspects. For example, the AC in one of the bedrooms was a stand-alone unit that was jerry-rigged to vent out the window, and the other bedroom had no AC. The screen door was broken. There were hardly any utensils and no bowls. The hairdryer “high” setting was broken and could only be used on “low”. For only a...

Centrally located in the Old Port, with views of the harbor, this was a last minute — therefore pricey — excellent find for a fall weekend getaway. Stylish, elegant rehab of 19th century granite industrial building. Whimsical decor notes referring to 19th century owner Evalina Fox. Nicely appointed kitchenette — though if you came to Portland for the foodie scene, you might end up just using it for breakfast, as we did. Only sour note was the disco music (coming in via the ventilation...

Amazing place to stay in Portland. The location was great. The hotel is right next to Courtyard Marriott and Aloft hotels, but it feels so much more comfortable. The unit was twice as large as a typical Marriott room about 700 sq. ft which was wonderful. It is Walkable to the ferry boat, restaurants and shops. There is a full kitchen, dining area, living area, very large island with large windows to brighten the place and a set of washer and dryer in the unit. Extremely clean and it looked...

I HIGHLY recommend staying at this charming, super clean Bed and Breakfast. Jim the owner is so helpful and nice! Not to mention that the breakfast included with your stay is by far the best I have had at any Bed and Breakfast that I have stayed at.

Beautiful historic building. The common areas and our room were stunning! Breakfast in the morning was great. Make sure to go to the widow’s walk in the evening for a view.

We spent our 29th Anniversary here. We had an upgraded room with a balcony. It was absolutely amazing. Convenient to the beach, convenient to other sights in the Cape Elizabeth area and Portland, Maine. The staff was fantastic from front door staff, wait staff, room cleaners to the managers. They are over the top helpful. Definitely a return visit in the future.

This hotel is in the perfect location to walk to everything around the waterfront. I had a really late check in because of a delayed flight and the staff was very accommodating. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Portland!

Newly redone rooms in desirable waterfront setting. You can walk to everything from this location. The little check in area that turns to a bar during sunset is lovely. We will stay again.

This property is beautiful. It sits in the historic area of the old port. It is very close to the waterfront, restaurants, shops and historic areas. The mattress and sheets were superb. While in the old port, we took a trolley tour which took us out to Portland headlight and then gave us a tour of of the old port. You can catch fairies from about two or three minutes walk away, we would strongly recommend this hotel.

This was truly an outstanding experience. The accommodations and the staff were excellent.
The hotel is walking distance to so many shops and restaurants. From the front desk to the doormen, all were polite, friendly and eager to recommend venues.
The hotel restaurant was one of the best I had been to in a long time. We hadn't planned on eating there but we're so glad we did.

I love this place! Check in is always smooth and the staff is always friendly. I really like the room set up with the separate living space from the sleeping space, and also a separate full kitchen area. Breakfast is included and always good with a large variety to choose from. They also have a free light supper a few nights a week. I sleep so well as the mattress and pillows are wonderful. The toiletries are nice and the towels are thick. The staff was super friendly. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The Francis is located close to everything we needed. I loved sitting by the fire with my wife reading. There was space to park and we walked almost everywhere we went. We look forward to staying again.
