Great place with smazing views
The place was great with amazing views of Lake Michigan. It was clean with lots of thoughtful amenities. Couldn’t get the Sirius Radio to work, but owner called and showed me what I was doing wrong. TV was broken, but owner said he didn’t know that previously, not a big deal for us though. I did read reviews of spiders. While I didn’t see any inside, we did notice many on the outdide furniture and beach area. The beach itself is sandy and nice, but you will have a hard time going swimming as the waters were loaded with jagged rocks. Checkout requires trash taken out, dishes washed, linens removed and towels thrown in tub as well as outdoor furniture returned to original location. Beds were comfortable.

Best secret hideaway!
Our stay here was magical. We had a private beach for the kids, kayaks to explore with, and we only ever saw one other person. Very off the beaten path, but perfect for making family memories, and the lack of internet was actually a plus in my opinion! There were lots of spiders as others have commented, but they were 99% outside and I will take them for the seclusion this property provided. Owner was the appropriate level of communicative and was quick to respond to questions. Will absolutely be coming back!

Incredible beachfront home!
The pictures of this home are completely accurate! The beach was amazing and we walked the beach every day. The house is beautifully decorated and has lots to make you comfortable. There was no Wi-Fi but we had decent reception on our phones to text and make calls, as needed. Our only issue was the number of spiders around the home; a few inside but lots outside. We get that it's hard to keep them away but just so those who have spider issues should be aware. The weather wasn't always cooperative during our stay but the DVD player was a help along with the big windows to watch the rain.

Perfect balance of North Woods and Beach Vacation
We loved our stay at the property. We had so much fun playing in Lake Michigan and relaxing on the beach. We took a day trip up to kayak on Lake Superior to see the Pictured Rocks, which were absolutely breathtaking. Other than that we loved just staying at the cabin and enjoying the outdoors. The Upper Crust Deli in town was a great place to grab for breakfast or lunch. We highly recommend this cabin if you are looking for a quiet getaway.

Didn't want to leave. Can't wait to go back!
The house and property were in great condition and well cared for. Linens, dishes, etc. provided were plentiful and nice quality. I missed in the listing that there isn't AC or a dishwasher. Not deal breakers though as weather was pretty cool. Just one warm day/evening to get through and it was good for our teens to learn what it's like to hand wash all the dishes. Directions could have been a bit more detailed (go this many miles past turn/sign, you'll pass many turn offs but they're driveways, look for blue house number signs, etc.) but if you just keep going on the very long dirt/gravel road you'll eventually get there. Once you get to actual house it's easy to locate. Only issue with house was gap between deck and doors as our dog got his leg wedged in that gap second time going into the house. A few tense moments but we were able to free him without harm. We placed a boot mat over gap while we were there, but it might be nice to have something more permanent placed at the doorways to cover the gap. Overall, the property was truly wonderful! The home was nicely laid out with lots of amenities, owner was responsive and helpful, and the scenery is impossible to beat. We didn't want to leave, and we can't wait to return!

Last minute booking with paradise
With only 36 hours to prep we were able to find & book the exact perfect place for our needs & wants. We were able to experience sunrises from the most comfortable bed along with sunsets from the provided kayaks on the glass-like Lake Michigan. We got to enjoy smores with the outdoor fire pit, which led us inside to the living room fireplace where we enjoyed the relaxing mood of the Sirius radio. We loved prepping and cooking dinner in the kitchen, & eating it on the patio while we watched the many birds dive under the water for their dinner. Nature is so entertaining!! We took a day trip to Kitch-iti-kipi where I saw license plates from all over the United States... what an intense natural clear spring only 15min away!! Followed by a cool dip in michigans largest waterfall Tahquamenon!! (Upper falls is 50 feet tall, lower falls we hiked the island and waded in the falls... it was sooooooo neat!!!) Also got to pet a bear cub at Oswalds Bear Ranch 1.5 hours away. We made sure the majority of our time was spent at the idyllic cabin though. It had such a desired indoor/outdoor ambience we were looking for in a secluded cabin. Ohhhhh & my absolute favorite was bringing our yoga mats down to the private beach early morning for our workouts... it was unlike anything ive ever experienced. Bring your bug spray! Remember its a Tan cabin, not the blue one... maps took us to the wrong one. Look for the name sign on the tree w/the Bear on it! (Cant see house #) I hope to rebook again!!

Hidden gem in Manistique!
We all loved our stay here in Manistique. We call it our hidden ocean gem that doesn’t disappoint! The kids had a bit of a hard time not having internet but they learned to enjoy Gods beauty instead with walking the beach and finding animal bones and digging in the sand. Also enjoyed some boggie boarding! Nothing like being right on the water ❤️

Priced as a Lake house, but more of a Northwoods Cabin
Good: location (private, great beaches walking distance from cabin), communication with property manager, cabin design and decor, fire pit Bad: Definitely pick up bottled drinking water as the well needs sanitizing and the water had a very strong odor. Small beach in front of cabin with rocky lake bottom (great sand beaches with sandy lake bottom walking distance to the south), deck needs refurbished/refinished and deck furniture replaced. Paid for 3 nights what you pay for a week at similar properties

It was beautiful but the beach was disappointing. Not kid friendly and difficult and dangerous to get to the water. We had to go down the beach a bit to get to sandy beach so we could get in the water. Otherwise it was peaceful and quiet. There were mice in the kitchen area. Lots of rodent poop.

We loved this vacation home for our family! Waking up with the sound of the waves and the sunshine streaming in through the wall of windows was wonderful! It also has a large enough yard for our senior dog to enjoy sniffing around and outside time. Yoga and coffee on the deck in the morning was a perfect way to start the day. Manistique cabin review
Was a great vacation spot. The cabin was very open and airy. With 10 of us, we always had hot water and having a washer and dryer was awesome. The only complaint I would have is the bunk beds not having a rail on the outer side. We had smaller children so they could only stay in the bottom bunk. But all in all, we had a great time in a great place

The cabin was nice, but a little far off the main road. Views we awesome, and loved listening to the waves. The kids had so much fun playing in the water. A little disappointed, the listing said it had a DVD player, so we rented movies on the way to there but go there and no player. Overall a nice house and would recommend.

Cozy
Not a bad place; Great view, secluded, quiet, close to Manistique. But there are a few things that could improve this property immensely. First, the trash situation is a joke for long stays. “Keeping trash bags in the trunk of your car” until you leave has to be a joke, right?! We stayed for a week and had numerous bags and we were not about to keep them in the trunk of our car for that long, so we lived with a pile of stinky trash bags in the entryway. Second, the spider situation needs to be dealt with. I grew up in Michigan on a lake and understand spiders are very common. However, the number of spiders in and outside of the property was ludicrous. I would suggest a spraying is in order if this is to be a more enjoyable rental property. Lastly, I got the feeling the neighbors are not happy that this home has been converted into a rental. Waves were not returned as we passed them and they contacted the owner right away because our small dog made her way to their yard a single time for less than 30 seconds. Being a Michigander myself, I expect a more welcoming attitude from natives. All in all, this place is great for a smaller group (4 or 5) that probably doesn’t have a pet and doesn’t plan on an extended stay.

We had a great week with this spot as our base for exploring The UP. Fayette State Park and Kitch-iti-Kipi were close by and amazing! We made longer day-trips to Sault Ste Marie and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Property was as described. The lakeview offered beautiful sunrises and a quiet shoreline. We didn't have great cell coverage and no wifi, but we packed lots of books and board games and enjoyed unplugging for the week.

3 star: unfortunately, would not recommend for a stress-free vacation
This stay was a family of 5 adults and 1 dog. The host was responsive and the property itself is nice! We did wish we could spend more time there. -1 star: I do not think this is an area that is friendly to vrbo. Really loved the area, but apparently the neighbors were complaining to our host about us - noise and dog. I'm not sure how we could have been quieter as we weren't outside much, didn't play any music, and were mostly at the vrbo to sleep around 10pm. Regarding the dog, we found a lost dog (we were able to return him to the owner) that was responsible for the neighbor's complaints. I understand the host was probably concerned when they received the complaints, but I wish they would have worked with the neighbor before texting us in the middle of our vacation for an immediate response or to leave. It didn't feel like we were guests, but nuisances. -1 star: the checkin/out process was not simple. There were 3 sets of differing instructions and we tried to follow all of them. When we complied with 1 particular direction, the host asked why we'd done that. When we explained the instructions, they said it was their fault and they forgot to remove that set of instructions. To their credit, they did own up to it; however, they don't seem to be that attentive to the comfort of their guests. The checkin/out process + cleaning fee seems excessive for the amount of work the guest is supposed to do compared to the other vrbo's. No minus star for this, but please note there were ants in the kitchen, hallway, and bedrooms upon arrival. I notified the host so something could be done for the next guest as they weren't aware of the issue. I found ant baits under the sink, so it likely was a problem for at least 1 other guest. No compensation or solution was offered for our stay. I understand they were not responsible for the ant invasion, but was disappointed with the response. I did enjoy the vacation overall, but it was in spite of the vrbo. It would have been nice if it hadn't added so much needless stress and we could have actually enjoyed our vacation more. Lesson learned and will not return.

Beautiful, quiet, serene getaway
We had a beautiful stay at the property. Being right on the lake was a dream. Owners provided firewood which was so convenient and we loved having fires in the evenings while watching the waves. Quiet, clean beach for swimming, playing and walking was wonderful. The house is clean, comfortable and well equipped. We traveled with our larger, blended family which included 5 kids ranging from 10-17 and 4 adults We spent a lot of time hanging out and the house and exploring the nearby town of munising. The hikes and waterfalls there are amazing. We did the shipwreck tour but the waves ended up being too strong to see much, the company gave us a full refund! And it was a beautiful boat ride. The home was a little tight in terms of our large group. Its beautifully decorated but with kids and a dog we felt like we were constantly moving rugs to sweep and clean, and still never quite got it feeling ‘cleaned up’. The railing going to the loft area is a little rough and we had a few smaller injuries. The owners are conscientious of the areas animals and left instructions not to put trash outside at night, there were no dumpsters or bins outside. The instructions stated we should bring trash inside or put it in our vehicles. This is understandable but also meant that we spent the last half of our vacation surrounded by/constantly moving trash. The plumbing in the home may be normal for the area, we are not sure, but do want to make future renters aware that the smallest amount toilet paper clogs the toilets. Overall we had a lovely time and the house suited our needs well. We left some items behind and accidentally took some with us and the owners were responsive with desired instructions for proceeding.
