"Super helpful staff and great location"
My friend and I were pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms after reading other reviews, we shared a bunk bed room and it was well-proportioned and well laid out with some storage space. The room was very clean and felt new. Housekeeping visited daily and did a great job. The rooftop bar provides awesome views and the hotel generally felt well-looked after and clean and bright. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. Biggest plus has to go to the hotel concierge, Brian, fantastically knowledgeable and helpful, he helped us plan our days and was full of tips for things to see and do. The fact that someone is there throughout the day is great and a very useful resource. Would definitely stay here again.

"Midtown location near lots of great bars and food"
I live only 50 miles north of Manhattan, but when I have a week of business in the city, I stay at the Belvedere. The rooms are not gigantic, but certainly more than enough for sleeping and getting ready to go out. They have a breakfast buffet (I wish you could order eggs other than scrambled) and they have an associated restuarant accessable right from the lobby with a discount for hotel guests. The staff is really good, helpful with all my questions and changes to my reservation. There's always a doorman, and he gets the taxi for you (I don't like standing in the street waving for one). Many Europeans so if you speak another language, you'll get plenty of practice. It is not the cheapest hotel in NY, but not the most expensive either, and I feel comfortable and safe every time I stay here.

"Arty, charming, staying with friends, quirky"
If you enjoyed the film The Grand Budapest Hotel you should stay here. Its neither grand, nor in Budapest. It is a hotel with old charm, quirkiness and super bathrobes. We slept snuggled under a massive soft duvet and slept without waking until 8am. Bliss. The furnishings are an eclectic collection of beautiful antique pieces, and the pictures follow themes and give the rooms extra flavour. The front desk it beautiful with wooden postal cubbies behind it. My daughter said it was like staying at a friends house, not one of those modern fancy hotels where every room is the same. I have enjoyed those types of rooms too. I will certainly return here. It is a thirty minute walk to Penn Station, and five minute walk to Grand central. We made wonderful discoveries of shops and boutiques as we wandered to fifth avenue, and Broadway. We loved our stay. The staff are fabulous. They happily flagged a taxi for us when we came to leave. Try it. Enjoy it.

"The Element NYC"
Overall great hotel, my 2 daughters and I stayed 2 nights in a double bed room. The size of the room was good for NYC. There was a small kitchenette with fridge, cook top, coffee pot, etc. We did not use, but was very nice if we had a longer stay. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was updated with nice large shower. The bathroom was only large enough for one at a time, but the ventilation was excellent in there so that you could shower and get ready without all of the steam and heat. The location was in the good, far enough from the Times Square madness, but within good walking distance to enjoy when you wanted. The hotel provides a very nice breakfast for its guests. They offer breakfast from 6:30 am until 9:30 am. There is not enough room where breakfast is served to seat the guests that take advantage of this option. They do expand the breakfast time on the weekends, however I would suggest that when the hotel is full that the time is extended. The crowd was not worth it for my family to take advantage of the offered breakfast. Overall a great hotel, I would recommend it to friends and family and would stay there again.

"excellent hotel in good position to get to places"
I had been before in a group but this was different. I went on my own, a woman over 70, and was treated right royally. I was on a room only basis but was able to find very good breakfasts within easy walking distance and I'm talking about a time when New York was experiencing one of its coldest winters ever. It is very easy to get a taxi, the underground is about 5 minutes away and I walked to several things I wanted to visit - MOMA, the Rockafeller(?) Centre and the shops on 5th Avenue. They are helpful in suggesting places and booking places for you. Warm, clean, quiet, comfortable - perhaps not for the young and not particularly cheap. but for me, an elderly (I hate that word!) it was ideal and I may well go again.
