“Pros: modern hotel which opened relatively recently so everything looks new; lovely spa/ gym and sauna area. We went twice and were the only people there - maybe because it was still low season; great balcony space; big walk in shower; overall, a nice boutique feel to the hotel. But the reason why I’ve given it only three stars is because the attitude of most of the staff we encountered was so awful! Cons: poor cleaning service. We only stayed three nights but twice we had to ask for someone……

“Property and room was great besides the kitchen. It did not have basic tools such a washcloth, paper towel and tongs. so cleaning hands or messes were not possible without using a body towel or toilet paper. The stovetop in our room was difficult to use and potentially broken as it would work for 10 minutes than only work in intervals of 15 seconds. There was also no available parking at the hotel so we had to park outside which was no big deal in the end as it was free after 8 pm. ”

“This is an ideal hotel for those seeking a quiet restful location away from the busy large hotel experience. The staff are amazing, and the tranquility of the gardens wonderful. The garden rooms are getting tired and need a refurbishment which apparently is happening in a few months time. The food at breakfast, lunch and dinner is exceptional, and the location of the hotel is ideal for walks either to the Port and center or away to the promenade, the lido and rock pools. A definite for those……

“We had a wonderful stay at Reid's Palace. The staff went above and beyond, the hotel is stunning and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. ”

“The Perestrello has recently been refurbished and our room on the 2nd floor of the annex was lovely. The bed was comfy, the room had plenty of storage/hanging space, a good size safe, small refrigerator and quiet air conditioning. The bathroom was spotless with a walk in rain fall shower. Our room had a balcony which got the sun until early afternoon. We used the pool in the garden as well as the one in the adjoining (by a short bridge) Miramar. The gardens and pool areas are really well cared……

“Need some refurnishment. Not convenient to check in and out with remote controller of air conditioner and TV - suggest to keep in room. Good seaview of room is the advantage but prefer more comfortable stay...”

“Check in was smooth, room was spacious and clean. Hotel nicely located near boardwalk. Nice view from balcony. Supper buffet was Latin themed and very, very good, as was the breakfast buffet. Underground parking € was convenient. I would definitely stay again. ”

“The hotel is located near the coast and near a majority of attractions in Funchal. Our stay here was nice and comfortable with no real highlights or lowlights to speak of, and that is a compliment, we admired the cozy painless experience. The outdoor pool was absolutely freezing with the outdoor temperature being 20 degrees, though that was more due to the breeze. The rooftop bar is quite nice and cozy to chill at after a day out in the city !”
