"The room was clean. The hotel looks a little dated from the outside, but the rooms are nice. The breakfast was large portions and decent enough, but there are better options within walking distance. The resort experience was wasted on me a little, as I hardly used the amenities. I selected this place because it was on the water and I wanted to view/hear the ocean. The view was nice"

"The property is a holiday resort, and the apartment was spacious with excellent facilities, even though we only used the unit we stayed in. The grounds were well maintained and very pleasant. Although it’s somewhat isolated from the main shops and restaurants, there is a convenient shopping center nearby for groceries and meals. Check‑in was a bit convoluted: first reviewing an initial list, then collecting the keys, and finally obtaining wristband keys from a holiday salesperson who was rather insistent that we shouldn’t miss the 90‑minute resort tour offering a seven‑night freebie. Nonetheless, we had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay."

"The hotel offers excellent facilities that are easy to use. It is ideally located on the main street with convenient access to a sandy beach that’s great for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. Complimentary morning coffee, poolside drinks, souvenir water bottles, a seven‑stage water filtration dispenser on every floor, and beach chairs with parasols are all thoughtful touches. The only aspect that didn’t feel fully 5‑star was the front desk service, but overall the hotel deserves a 5‑star rating."

"Beautiful condo and convenient washer and dryer inside the condo itself. We had a partial ocean view and it was absolutely breathtaking. Very close to so many places and only 30min from the airport"

"We’ve been staying at Kona Islander since 2008 and have stayed in several different units over the years. We keep coming back because we love the location and atmosphere, and the staff during this visit were absolutely wonderful, friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We had a great stay overall. Our main disappointment with this particular unit was that it did not have a hot plate or small stovetop. One of the reasons we choose Kona Islander instead of a traditional hotel is the ability to prepare meals during longer stays. We stayed for 10 days and went to Costco planning to make many of our breakfasts, lunches, and dinners in the room, but with only a microwave, we couldn’t do that as planned. This unit also had only a small refrigerator, while other units we’ve stayed in at the property had a full-size refrigerator and freezer. That was less important to us, but worth mentioning. We would absolutely stay at Kona Islander again. We just hope the owner considers adding a hot plate or small stovetop to this unit. That one addition would have made an otherwise wonderful stay even better."
