"Nice modern business hotel with spacious rooms. Mine had a balcony too. Plenty of parking on site. I ate in the restaurant which was good and reasonably priced. It’s a bit out of the way, so definitely not somewhere to explore Siena on foot by!"

"Hotel Athena was a great property in Siena right inside the town walls. Very convenient as we had a rental car and did day trips throughout Tuscany. Breakfast buffet was included and great selection and quality of food. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others."

"Great location. Walk to/from town was very manageable considering how much walking we did in Rome earlier in our trip. Easy access via car so location made for easy access to other cities for day trips."

We stayed 3 nights at Palazzo di Valli in late April 2022. The property is beautiful and located in a quiet residential area just south of the city's center. It sits on a hill overlooking a valley, and has it's own orchard and flower gardens. Instead of waking up to the sound of motorcycles and delivery trucks under your window, we woke up to chirping birds. Hosts Lorenzo and Giancarlo were wonderful, offering us recommendations, and helping arrange reservations and transportation. It's a bit of...

Just a phenomenal place to stay. Great breakfast options in the morning, friendly and helpful staff and the grounds were amazing to walk around. Perfect if you are looking to visit the neighboring villages in Tuscany

A great spot with top staff. Very friendly and helpful with top restaurant recommendations. The room, though small, was perfect for us and we enjoyed a good night's sleep. Breakfast was delicious and we wish we could have stayed longer.

The hotel is set in a wonderful location and everyone working here is so kind. Our room overlooked Siena and the view was stunning. Our breakfast each morning was delicious as well. We would stay here again for sure.

We enjoyed our recent stay at Hotel Villa Elda on our recent honeymoon in Tuscany. This small hotel is located a short walk (perhaps 10 minutes) from the historic center of Siena. We found the staff, including Riccardo and Sara, to be very helpful and pleasant during our stay. Riccardo provided excellent recommendations for meals, and Sara gave us easy and accurate directions to the next stop on our trip, as we headed towards the coast and the island of Elba. Thank you again!

Charming, beautifully decorated, and pet-friendly hotel
We enjoyed our stay at this charming hotel. It is very cutely decorated and has lots of character. The location is great if you prefer staying outside the busy city center while still having convenient access to everything.
The room was a good size—not too big or too small—with a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. Breakfast was also very good, offering everything you need to start the day.
Another big plus is that the hotel is...

We liked our room, especially the balcony. We wandered around the vineyards and enjoyed an delicious t-bone steak in their restaurant, which had a wonderful ambience overlooking the vineyards. They light the vines closest and there are tables where you could eat among the vines. It wasn't a fancy place, but very comfortable.

Stained here at the end of an eight day trip around Italy. This hotel was head and shoulders above the others I visited, it is a boutique hotel of seven rooms. Our room was a suite. It was bigger than many apartments, with a large living room with daybed, a beautiful master bathroom with jetted tub and separate shower with jets overhead as well as side jets, ample closet storage, fridge, and safe. The rooms here have antique furniture and hand painted ceilings. I loved the breakfast on the...

It was very hard to get to the hotel. Google, Waze did not locate it. Upon arrival Ricardo confirmed this problem. The hotel is excellent! Super clean, confortable, modern decor. Their breakfast is really good. The staff were all friendly, professional and kind. I would dfinetly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Santa Caterina for four nights. Normally we like to stay in the center of town, but I booked the Santa Caterina based on its reviews, and I'm so glad I did! The hotel is absolutely charming and it has a beautiful garden with a stunning view of the hills of Tuscany. The front desk staff, especially Lucio, couldn't have done more for us. The breakfast buffet was excellent and in the warmer months, can be eaten in the garden. It's just outside the Porta Romana,...

The best area to stay in Montecchio is within the historic hilltop village itself or in the immediate surrounding countryside, offering distinct but equally desirable experiences.
For those seeking a truly immersive Tuscan experience, staying directly within the walls of Montecchio's historic village provides unparalleled convenience and charm. The village is centered around the Piazza della Repubblica, with narrow, winding cobblestone streets leading to local eateries and artisan shops. From here, you're just steps away from the impressive Castello di Montecchio, a prominent landmark. This option is ideal for couples who appreciate being able to stroll to dinner, enjoy local wine tastings, and experience the village's quiet rhythm.
Alternatively, the immediate countryside surrounding Montecchio offers a serene and picturesque setting, great for families or those desiring more space and tranquility. Many properties here are converted farmhouses or villas, often featuring private pools and expansive views of the rolling Tuscan hills. These accommodations provide easy access to the village, typically a short drive, while offering a peaceful retreat.
When is the best time to go to Montecchio?
For the most pleasant travel experience in Montecchio, the best times to visit are during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.
These periods offer comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from the mid-60s to low 80s Fahrenheit, which are ideal for exploring the Tuscan countryside and enjoying outdoor activities. Spring brings blooming wildflowers and lush green landscapes, while autumn offers the beauty of changing foliage and the harvest season, including grape and olive picking.
