"It is a historic building with lovely architectural features, high coved ceilings, cornices, carved wood hand rails, and leaded glass windows. It is 122 years old so it wasn't designed for modern tastes so be aware of that, floors and stairs creak. I found it was easier to access my room going up the original staircase than to use the elevator in the newer section and then wend my way back to the older section of the hotel. I definitely got my steps in! It's central location made it easy for me to walk everywhere I needed or wanted to go (I was there for a wedding!)"

"This hotel was a little tired looking and could use an update but that is all I can hold against it. It was clean, comfortable and the price was reasonable. In addition, the staff was great - I interacted with several different people at the front desk during our time there and each one of them was terrific. So all things considered, this was a great place to stay. I did not give it a five as it was a bit older in appearance, but everything else more than made up for the initial appearance. I would definitely stay there again."

"It was a comfortable stay! Staff was very friendly and helpful. In the morning while we checked out, the gentleman there brought out fresh coffee for my husband. It was a pleasant stay only 15 away from Carmel By The Sea 💝"

"We really liked it here! It is very convenient to the Monterey aquarium and Cannery Row area. We were able to walk to restaurants for dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very cute and clean. My only complaint is that the outside lights shined right inside the room because they only have shutters, not any kind of blackout curtains or shades, so the room never really got dark at night. Luckily, I always travel with an eye mask. Other than that, I thought it was a great place and I would definitely stay here again."
