Mexico Eco-friendly Vacations

We had traveled to Bahía Príncipe Akumal in 2023. We returned this year, but to Grand Tulum. Our expectations were set extremely high when we went to Akumal, and were slightly let down visiting Grand Tulum. We were in a group of 8 and were told at check in we would not be able to eat together, and dinner reservations could only be set for 3/5 nights there due to restaurants not being open. 2/3 restaurants we went to were not great, honestly the buffet had better food! The AC was set and we didn’t have the ability to change it so the room stayed at 75 degrees. The pool, entertainment, golf, and workers were absolutely fantastic. Not sure I would come back to Bahia after this experience.

Our stay at Beloved Playa Mujeres was truly amazing. From the moment we arrived, everything slowed down in the best way possible. The resort is beautiful, but more importantly, it feels calm and intentional. You never feel rushed, never feel crowded. Whether you are walking along the beach early in the morning, sitting by the pool in the afternoon, or heading to dinner in the evening, there is a sense of peace that stays with you the entire time. What we loved most is that the resort never felt crowded. There was always space. Space to relax, space to breathe, space to actually disconnect. You are not competing for chairs, not waiting around, not dealing with noise. It feels like the kind of place you go when you truly want a real break. The service is what makes the experience come alive. It is not just that it is top notch, it is that it feels real. At El Mar, Victor made every meal feel like something to look forward to. The setting, the ocean, the pace of the service, it all comes together in a way that makes you want to stay a little longer. We had the pleasure of having Alfonso as our waiter at both El Mar and Lupita, and he was outstanding. Attentive, funny, and engaging in a way that never felt forced. The kind of person who reads the table perfectly and makes the experience feel personal. By the pool, Elvis was incredible. He is out there all day in the sun, moving constantly, checking in on guests, delivering drinks, keeping things flowing, and somehow doing it

It was really nice that they set up our room with a nice tray of fruit and a bottle of Brut Champagne 🍾 for being a vip guest. Then for my birthday 🎂 they set the room up with balloons, a bottle of wine, fruit tray, and meat & cheese tray, and made a heart shape on the floor with rose petals. They also left a bag for my birthday with a tee shirt, a small basket of Mexican candy, Riviera Maya refrigerator magnet, and a printed up birthday card with name on it. The Concierge Ali was very sweet and made sure everything was to our liking. We enjoyed all the wildlife especially seeing monkey. Pools were clean, and the grounds well maintained. Specialty Restaurants were good, but the buffet was lacking in food quality compared to other resorts we've been too. A bit displeased with the very gray looking sheets, and bathroom towels. Asked for a blanket for the bed and it had black marks on it as if someone used it to work on a car. I did take it up the front desk the next day to show them the dirty looking blanket we received and told them how dirty their sheets and towels looked. I also asked for a mattress pad for comfort. When we came back to the room later, it looked like they gave us new sheets & towels, along with putting on a mattress pad. Very please they replaced things. Only issue was they gave us a sheet when we called again for a blanket. Staff was nice, drinks were good, & the resort is very nice looking & well maintained. We did have an enjoyable stay at Kantenah.
