We love to make fire in the wood stove and the walking to Hanna's flats. It is a nice cabin.

Acorn Cottage Review

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cool Cabin's Acorn Cottage. The cabin was just perfect for my family of 4 as it was easily accessible from the 18 and minutes away from the Village. The cabin was also immaculate and just felt like our little home away from home. We look forward to coming back next winter and we'll definitely request for Acorn Cottage as this is our new favorite cabin. Thank you for the great customer service once again.

2nd Stay Here and it Won't Be the Last!

This is a lovely, clean, comfortable home in a central location. Everything about staying here is easy, from check in to check out. I really like the location and I love the wood burning fireplace. The bed is comfy and the kitchen is set up nicely. The only “negatives” are no dishwasher (no big deal) and a little bit of mold in the shower corner. I am coming back this summer for sure!

The cottage lives larger than its actual size. it's clear that thought has been put into outfitting the cottage, which makes it easy to live in. Quiet, convenient neighborhood.

Sweet little cottage

Stayed with 2 adults, 2 children and especially enjoyed hiking straight from the backyard onto the Pine Knot Trail. Table and chairs on the front porch would have been lovely for meals outside, but everything else was wonderful.

Quiet, Comfortable with plenty to do. Loved the games.

This cabin was beautifully furnished and obviously well taken care of. It was clean and in a nice and quiet location that was also conveniently located in town. We were able to walk to restaurants, the lake and even the little convenience store. We enjoyed hiking the mountain behind the property. We enjoyed the lovely deck in the evenings and mornings.

Lovely property, lovely area, epic booking process

Property was lovely, very quiet and walking distance to Pine knot trail which was amazing. Big Bear Cool Cabins required a large amount of ID via a rather confusing booking process (involved scanning driving license and multiple forms which weve never done before for vrbos or any other type of accommodation). We really enjoyed the the property though. You are required to take your own trash to a municipal collection point about a mile away when you leave which seemed a bit weird.

Mountain cabin without the clichè

Being a timber frame cabin using light wood, the cabin has a much warmer, lighter feel than so many with the dated dark wood confined feel. The main living area is bright and open with vaulted ceiling showing off the open timber. The layout is logical and flows from each room to the next. It was nicely setup with amenities and was clean and inviting. Close to the village so access to all the shops was very convenient. I do recommend this cabin.

Nice location and charming space, but not clean

The house itself was cozy and the location was excellent. But what ruined it was the lack of cleanliness. There were cobwebs and dust throughout the house, it's a cabin so that sometimes happens. But leaving dirty pillow cases, blankets with crusty residue and stained sheets on kids bunk beds is not acceptable. They obviously had not been changed as there were human hairs on the pillows which gave both of our girls the ick. The lack of extra sheets meant draping blankets on top of the bedsheets so they can sleep. That's unfortunate because it made us extra wary about the rest of the cabins cleanliness and made the time spent at the cabin significantly less enjoyable.

Super clean and cozy, has everything you need

We stayed one night over the weekend and it was great. The perfect little house for myself and my boyfriend. It was spotless apart from some random dog hair found on the couch. Super close to the village, easy parking outside and easy access to the key lock box. We loved staying in and cooking and while the knives were pretty dull it had everything we need!! It was a great rental but would actually suggest booking through Cool Cabins directly because this site charges an additional $30.

Acorn Cottage

This is the second time we have stayed at this cabin,the sreendoor is still broken so it doesn't stop the flying insects from entering also tons of black ants. The last time we stayed here they had some comfortable furniture, a nice sofa and a couple of chairs this time no chairs and the new sofa they had it wasn't even a new sofa. It was terrible but anyway that'll be the last time we stay at the Acord cottage thank you

Acorn cotttage stay

Our check in was great. Easy to find with GPS. We did discover the bunk bed frame broken and couldn't use it. Reach out to the staff and they offered to send maintenance but that should have been taken care of prior to my arrival. No one should spend their vacation dealing with work orders. The last thing was the shower. Water leaked from the door and the side, resulting in water everywhere on the floor. The remaining of the cabin was great. No other issues. Location of cabin was good. All appliances worked just fine. The weather was amazing as always. Till next time!

Acorn Cottage...Needs Some Help!

Great location, perfect size for 2 people and dog. Very tired furnishings. Couch is uncomfortable to try to sit on. Bed mattress needs replacing. Shower needs to be deep cleaned and re-grouted. All throw carpets, including bathroom, either need replacing or deep cleaning. Windows are filthy, glass has not been cleaned for what appears to be years. Nice to have patio, but table chairs are meant to have cushions, not usable without cushions. Patio wood chairs very dirty, could not sit on. Will not rent this unit again.

Cabin was great but management company not so much

We loved the cabin & location, it was a good amount of space for 4 adults and 2 dogs. My only negative feedback to provide is that you have to go to an office just so the management company can tell you the lock box code. I found this frustrating because this is something that can easily be done electronically rather than exposing more people to COVID by coming into an office. Also, the company emails out a waiver prior to arrival but it ended up in my spam so the only reason I knew not to go straight to the cabin was from other comments here. After leaving the office and heading to the cabin around 4:45pm (check in is at 4pm) we arrived at the cabin and the cleaning crew was still there. Overall this was not a great start to the weekend. Something they don't list on the listing is that yes this cabin is pet friendly but there is a fee, minimal but still something they should list upfront. Overall we enjoyed the cabin but future forward I would prefer to rent directly from owners rather than from a management company and that's what you get with this cabin.

Please change the shower head

Overall content with this cabin. Keep in mind this is a managed property, not a private residence. Did not meet expectations. The amount of documents that need to be signed were uncoordinated and not sent timely. I was unable to get the code to receive the house key until I called the service number because documents were not sent. The shower head is aimed at the shower wall, it was previously mentioned in another review, yet it has not been fixed. The queen mattress was indented and felt more like a full sized bed. The listed stated there is a coin laundry, but there is none in the cabin or on the premises. The fireplace had wood that was already burnt and they were charging way too much for a new bundle of wood. The people at the service number were kind and helpful but overall the stay could have been better coordinated.
