Close to the beach and to the ferry.

Posted Jul 31, 2015
The hotel is walking distance to the ferry, which was very helpful. I wish it had WiFi in the apartments away from the main building. Food was good and the staff excellent.

Beautiful country, but resort was a dissapointment

Posted Jul 31, 2015
The beach and ocean was beautiful, but the resort is currently under construction. The food was subpar and they only have one bar/restaurant that closes at 10:30pm. Unlike other resorts in the area, the food and drink selection was a dissapointment. No beach service for drinks with the exception to Gabriel, which would go ABOVE AND BEYOND for his customers. The villa's are in very bad shape and are out dated by 20+ years. They do not offer the nightly entertainment that they advertise and no childrens clubs or activites. Only benefit was the reef next to the resort, which offered a great variety of sea life. With that said, it is also a location used for excursions from other resorts, which made the area very busy with boats and people. Overall, beautiful island but for entertainment, shopping, other attractions stay in Cancun and avoid this resort.

Gorgeous Views

Posted Jul 29, 2015
Overall Mia Reef Isla Mujeres is amazing! I would definitely stay again. The hotel is located in an island, in the island of Isla Mujeres connected with a wood bridge. Staff is excellent, friendly and attentive. It has its own private beach with amazing views all around. Keep in mind that commuting to the hotel from Airport has a couple more additional fees than staying in Zona Hotelera. You need to catch a Taxi to the ferry (Puerto Juarez), catch the ferry to the island (Isla Mujeres) and catch another Taxi to your hotel. But once is the island you can rent a golf cart to take you to places. PROS Privacy Great Views Good food (Currently is in remodeling due to new owners, so only one restaurant is open) Excellent staff Perfect for snorkeling Kings Pool CONS One restaurant No Store located on site Currently in remodeling (But they do respect customers and are not bothering you directly)

Stunning views

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: The views and the location
Cons: Rooms, Food, Nightlife
Location: Rent a golf cart and hit up Punta Sur (South part of the island). Also take in the new (June) water park - Plaques De Los Suentos. Worth the money.
First and foremost, this resort is under major construction and they are trying their best to make do. Honestly, they should just close it until the renovations have been completed. The resort is situated on the northern tip of the island and has the most stunning views. The little beach area is also very nice. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the boats/people come over and hang out. The restaurant is subpar at best. The buffet line seemed to have very little variety and the food was luke warm. The staff worked very hard and were doing the best with what they had. The rooms are terrible. Our door looked like someone used a crowbar to get in. Also, there was no room number and several of the other rooms and their numbers taped on the wall. Our room stunk and I could never pinpoint the smell. My best guess is that it was coming from the A/C. The shower is horrible. There are no doors, so the water goes everywhere. You literally have to barricade yourself in there with towels so that your room doesn't have water all over the place. The beds/pillows are not very comfortable and the channels on the tv were only in Spanish. Again, the views and location are spectacular, but if you're looking for a 5 star experience, maybe wait until all the renovations are complete.

unexpected outcome

Posted Jul 27, 2015
This hotel was not prepared for guests... Limited amenities, no where to plan activities , no gift shop to but lotions or first aid, staff was not helpful and bar staff would ignore you even if you were sitting directly at the bar. Was not provided the accommodations I paid for and was not given accurate information by front desk staff. We had to fend for iurselfs and could not even get the correct amount of bath towels for our #of guests. Very poor service. The maid even left her cleaning supplies in iour bathroom sink as if she got called away for something more important. This was suppose to be a great trip for my daughter and I before she went away to college and I feel like I disappointed her choosing this hotel. We ended up walking down the beach to another resort to enjoy some activities and friendlier service.

Pros: location, views, beach
Cons: everything
not worth the price we've paid. Under consruction, very busy staff- service inconsistent, almost no wi-fi, food is bad, no all-inclusive features at all.

Beautiful setting, but ...

Posted Jul 25, 2015
Pros: Clean and comfortable rooms with great views Beautiful setting good food
Cons: Staff can be rude. If the service would improve and the attention to detail (like not running out of TEQUILA!) then this place would rate a 4.0-45
Location: Isla is a great location for long beach days and staying in the water. Great food in town.
Beautiful setting, surrounded on all sides by water. Great swimming and decent snorkeling lots of places to relax, and very quiet. Great beach! Food is good. Ranging from decent to great depending on the meal. Bar is average, with little training to bar staff and limited stock of basics. Staff can be great or rude, depending on the person. The service is really marginal when you put it all together.

The villas were very quiet and private.

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: I stayed in the villa section which is away from the main hotel. Very quiet and private.
Cons: Main Hotel lobby is very uncomfortable with the heat. Would recommend some type of air circulation.
Location: Dining, shopping and tours very convenient. Snorkeling right at the resort.
The most relaxing vacation I have ever experienced. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Go all inclusive and just sit back and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Great Place!

Posted Jul 17, 2015
Pros: It was on an island and it had great views!!!
Cons: No construction across the hall. More option for eating and more bars.
Location: The location was great!!! I loved Isla Mujeres. We took a golf cart around the whole island. It was a great experience.
This hotel is being remodeled. In a year it will absolutely be a 5 start hotel with all the updates. Now it is still in progress. We had drills going at 9 am across the hall. We are not picky people so it didn't bother us but it could be annoying for others. The location is absolutely gorgeous! There is only one restaurant, one bar and one pool. If you are looking for a more up beat hotel this is not it! This would be a great honeymoon spot, plenty of alone time and no distractions. I had a great experience on Isla Mujeres and will definitely return!

Fantastic location, will be amazing when it's done

Posted Jul 17, 2015
I came with my two kids, age 7 and 9. We moved from another hotel in Isla Mujeres that was farther away from the beach. We were super happy we came here, as the water in front of the hotel and the views were perfect. The beachfront area is small, but it was low season so there were no problems finding beach chairs. Right in front of the hotel is where a bunch of tour operators bring their snorkeling tours, so just borrow snorkeling gear from the front desk and skip the tour! The pool area is nice and with a swim up bar, but not huge given the number of rooms. I'm sure during high season the pool gets super crowded. Go in the morning if you want some shade. The food was what you'd expect from an all-inclusive experience, just okay but not great. We were at the end of a month long Mexico trip and my kids just wanted to see familiar food again - which they found in pasta, boxed cereals, fries, chicken, etc. There was one made to order dish per meal - like fish or chicken tacos for dinner, omeletes for breakfast. As for the room, we got a deal on Expedia, so we were put in the not-yet-renovated section of the resort, which must have been the original resort. It was very basic and plain, with paint peeling off the building and rusted appliances. Our deck chairs were white plastic and must have been about 15 years old. However, we had a really amazing view of the rocky shore and the ocean. I only wish we had a bug screen so that we could have left the window open
