A pleasant surprise, an actual descent hotel in NY

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Size of the rooms, comfort of the beds, central location in lower Manhattan, Free WIFI and Breakfast, you must try the waffles' machine
Cons: The windows could be doubled in order to reduce the external noise
Location: Central location in China Town and Little Italy, proximity to a large number of Chinese massage venues of really good quality and techniques
Best Western Bowery Hanbee is located in China town at a walking distance from Little Italy. Excellent location if you want to discover lower Manhattan and China town. The hotel is very nice, comfortable, and the rooms are among the biggest I have seen in NY after staying in 4 different hotels. As I was saying, very centrally located if you want to explore the south end of Manhattan, at a walking distance of many attractions such as Ground Zero (Liberty Tower, and 9/11 museum). Broadway street and Wall street are a 15min walk away. Around the hotel are a number of recommended Chinese and Asian restaurants, and at 5 to 10 min walks, many Italian restaurants. The staff of the hotel are nice and welcoming. The Free WIFI and Breakfast are definitely a plus as most hotels in NY offer them at a charge.

The place to be!

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Don't waste your money in mid town or upper manhattan. Times Square is over rated! All the action is in the lower areas. Great authentic food, bars and shops. Walking distance to everything. Subway right near by if you want to get to Central Park. The hotel is nothing grand, but is more than satisfactory. The free Wifi is a bonus and so is the free beakfast.

The staff was good. The room was clean, the shower wouldn't drain but they resolved the problem immediately.

Great place near China Town and Little Italy

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: The hotel staff were cordial and aimed to please.
Cons: It would be nice to have a refrigerator and microwave in the room.
Location: This hotel is ideally situated, and it is a short subway ride to any attraction within Manhatten.
Nice place central to a multitude of subway lines. Hotel room was stylish and comfortable. Surrounding area showed the true characteristics of China Town's residents, stores and aromas.

NYC bound!

Great little hotel in really convenient location. A substantial continental breakfast was available each morning until 10am and the staff were extremely helpful. Rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance of a number of metro stations and subway lines.

An old building in a very crowded neighborhood.

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Hotel is located in a very crowded area.Street is very dirty and side walks are occupied by vendor and smell very bad. There is no supermarket or grocery store, there are full of Chinese food restaurants and stores that offering only Chinese goods.for example you can not find even a potato chips or cheese there. The hotel's Lobby located in Second floor.I couldn't find the hotel, because there was only a glass door, that ends with two lifts. My room was located on street side and was very noisy at the night. The air condition was noisy to.Breakfast was good. There was an old french coffee maker in my room that was not clean enough to make a coffee. The was very clean. The internet connection was good.Bed and pillows were very good.Staffs were very kind and polite. There is no mini bar or fridge in room.

Good hotel, but not a great location

Posted Jul 2, 2014
This hotel is fine on the inside -- the staff was professional and courteous, the service was good, the free continental breakfast included plenty of choices, and the room was clean and comfortable although small (like most hotel rooms in NYC). My issues were with the noise level outside the hotel at night, and the rather seedy neighborhood where it is located. It is on a dirty side street in Chinatown, with a fish market and produce market just a few doors away, and the sidewalk is very dirty. Ask for an upper floor room to be as far away from the street as possible, and don't wear your best shoes.
