Got a free upgrade due to overbooking. Rooms where decent, AC in bedroom wasn't working. Would have been nice to get room service to restock coffee and towels.

I don’t think I’d stay here again. It is a beautiful property but it is (needlessly) valet parking. Breakfast was average as far as other Hamptons go. Front desk at check-in couldn’t have been more helpful. About 11:30 pm, however, someone tried to enter our room. We had the DND sign on and the second lock. It was scary. 20 minutes later there is a loud banging on the door. A person saying they were management and to open the door, and to tell them my name. I said if you are management go and call me so we can talk, but I am not opening the door. The person then says: you aren’t supposed to be in this room. And I say: I’ve been here since 4 pm and I’ve pre-paid. He demands my name again and I say, sorry, no. He finally left. I called downstairs and asked, and the desk clerk said, “oh, that’s our night auditor. I conveyed he had scared me and that this was a first for me. Next morning I did get an apology at checkout and was told that they accidentally double assigned the room and the other person was guaranteed late arrival. I accepted the apology but since then have learned that things like this are happening more in hotels. Bottom line: use the second lock, always!! (I should have called Corporate.) beautiful hotel but this was dodgy.

The front desk staff was interesting. A woman working the front desk was unprofessional. She was snappy with her co worker and I heard her say multiple times “nobody here does anything” referring to other front office staff. I thought that was inappropriate to do in front of customers. Once checked in after an hour in my room I got a call from a visitor. I was not expecting one. I do not know anybody in NY. The front desk was firm it was for me. It was another guest with a similar last name trying to check in. I could hear her in the background saying she has her own room booked but the clerk wasn’t really listening to either of us. Also when the front desk called me when I answered she didn’t say hi or anything or explain she just said curtly “who is this” by way of greeting. I used to work front desk at a hotel and couldn’t imagine letting this get as far to bother a customer instead of problem solving. The bed was comfy, pillows was comfy, room clean and comfortable. Really nice staff doing valet. Only negative was the front desk at check in. At check out the staff was lovely.

On the advertisement it says there is a restaurant and laundry and there is neither. The staff is friendly. There are not a lot of restaurants nearby.
