"The atmosphere here was perfect for a mountain town. The room was a bit outdated but very clean. However, the whole room was sloped pretty severly, and when showering it was overly apparent that its not level. Its in the perfect location for walking to everything! We thought it was odd that there was no staff on site but check in and out was easy. And the staff at Meadowbrook was vey helpful."

"PLEASE READ AND BELIEVE THIS REVIEW.. DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY. It was not clean - The carpet was stained - the TV did not work - The shower head had no sprayer head in it, was like a garden hose, unusable - no Air conditioning and box fan provided did not work. electrical outlet in room loose in wall. dirty windows with broken screens that could not be opened.. every request for answers was met with a negative response from desk clerk . would not give me a receipt for checking out 2 days early. I am requesting a refund for the 2 days we had booked and could not stay because my spouse had bug bites from the room. AND NOT FROM MOSQUITOES AS THE CLERK SUGGESTED !!!!! I have stayed in hundreds of hotels in the US and many other countries, and this is by far the worst. DONT STAY HERE..."

"The Shady Lawn Inn is a wonderful place to stay. It's in the heart of Newland, NC, a small town with a cool vibe. Shady Lawn Inn was my home for 10 days because of car trouble. Staff Kara (front desk), Maria (housekeeping) and Ms. Suzzanah (owner) were so gracious and helpful and I felt safe. Room was clean, a bit dark, comfortable bed (king) and the ac cools when needed. Weather was delicious. Waightstills Restaurant steps from my room. Full bar, food variety, try the risoto with chorizo...delish. And a wowing collection of Lego builds made by the other owner Mr. Nathan. The driveway is rough, but hurricane Helene went thru this town hard. Good, kind folks at this place. I was fortunate to land at The Shady Lawn Inn."
