    Uganda Hotel Travel Guide

Located in East Africa, Uganda is a landlocked country that shares access to the continent's largest lake, Lake Victoria. Early hunting and gathering populations lived in Uganda until about 2,000 years ago, when iron working and agriculture were developed in the area. Visitors to hotels in Uganda can experience the many cultures and different geographic regions while visiting this top tourist destination.

Uganda has a variety of special geographic features. Much of its land is part of the Nile basin. The central area of the country has many marshy areas that attract wildlife. The northern area is dominated by a plateau, while the southwest corner of the nation is mountainous. Many Uganda hotel packages offer excursions so that travelers can view these areas of natural beauty.

One of Uganda's best draws for tourists are the mountain gorillas that are native to the country. The Uganda Wildlife Authority has established protected areas for these populations in the hope that they will thrive. Many guests at Uganda hotels come hoping to catch a glimpse of these majestic creatures.

Uganda has bountiful natural resources and is known for its coffee exports. Travelers enjoying affordable Uganda hotel deals can sample the locally grown coffee each morning during their stay.

Most cheap hotel deals in Uganda are within its major cities. Kampala is the largest city and the national capital and is also known for Makerere University. Said to be built upon seven hills like Rome, the city is also known as a center of diversity, commerce, and culture.

Other major cities where travelers can find a cheap Uganda hotel deal include Kira, known for Mandela National Stadium; Basilica of the Uganda Martyrs at Namugongo; Gulu, known for Gulu University, Pece Stadium and Gulu Central Market, with its low prices for consumer goods; and Lira, known for its central market and religious institutions of the Catholic church. To book rooms in any of these major cities, make reservations at least a month in advance.

The best time to travel to Uganda is in June or December when rainfall is less common. The nation enjoys abundant warmth and sunshine, which makes exploring the outdoor markets and landscape enjoyable at any time. For discount rates on accommodations, plan to reserve a room in advance of travel. From the Sipi Falls near Mt. Elgon to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the wonders of Uganda never cease.

"Good businessman's hotel for meetings in Kampala"
Excellent staff, good restaurants with an especially good Indian restaurant with a really nice outdoor seating area. Internet WiFi was much better than the high end hotel I had just left in Johannesburg, SA. Was able to print out boarding passes as there is an available computer/printer in the lobby. I stayed 5 nights and felt very comfortable the entire time. There is visible and excellent security. The "special" taxi rank is right out front. Standard Chartered bank ATM is 100 yards away. If you invest in a burner phone, you can buy minutes in the main lobby for Airtel and MTN (at least those 2, I think there were more). The breakfast is quite a bit above average. A few things that were unusual and I did not like. When I got to my room, the water was turned off. The concierge turned it on after checking it, but when I first used it, the water ran almost black for about 5 seconds. It cleared up, and I showered every day with no ill effects. The hotel supplies bottled water every day. Every night, the staff uses bug spray in the room One has to decamp for about an hour to let the smell clear. Overall, I would happily stay here again. It met my needs for proximity to the government ministries and agencies with whom I had meetings. Cannot say enough how friendly and helpful the staff is.

    "Not bad for Kampala"
Nice shower pressure and decent buffet breakfast. Also, nice pool (even a separate kids' pool) and supervised playground for kids to play on. The room advertised on Expedia was not what I got (no microwave or kitchenette), so I had to upgrade as I was traveling with kids. Also, hotel refused to refund last two nights of my stay when I needed to go home early. One time we ran out of toilet paper and it took over 24 hours for them to bring more. But hey, it's Uganda!
