Friendly Staff, good foodPosted Nov 22, 2015
This hotel was perfect for the price. The al a cart restaurants were all delicious with good service! The breakfast buffet service wasn't great, but always very busy. Check in was quick and easy. The entertainment staff made our stay memorable! They work very hard to make sure everyone has a good time. The grounds are well kept next to a beautiful beach. The bartenders are fast and friendly, although we wished there was drink service by the beach. Rooms are clean, however, I was disappointed not to have a coffee maker available. Overall, if you like constant entertainment and good food for a decent price, this hotel is a good pick.

Nice beach front resortPosted Nov 17, 2015
Pros: Relaxed vibe, right next to beach
Cons: The "it's not a time share" seminar being pushed by the concierge staff for the first two days of our stay.
Location: 45 minute ferry to Cozumel, 45 minute shuttle to Tulum
Came here for a 4 night stay, check in was easy. Got to our room, which over looked the beach, the pool and snack bar area, which was nice since we were close to where we wanted to hang out. Room was plain, nothing fancy but worked for what we needed. Buffet food was average, they had a theme every night which changed up the selection. Dining room is very hot, no AC and the ceiling fans don't cut it, I can see this being quite unbearable in the summer time, but we were there in November so we survived! Tried one of the a la carte restaurants, Don Diego which served Mexican food, great service, great food, we loved it there. The entertainment crew is great, there's always something going on during the day and at night they put on lip synch shows, our favorite was the disco show. We enjoyed ourselves!

Worth the moneyPosted Nov 13, 2015
Pros: It's not to big to walk from one end to the other.
Cons: Could use a bigger bar in the pool area...the line was sometimes long
Location: 4th stop on shuttle was 1.5 hours from Cancun airport.
Short trip, nice stay, clean hotel. Worth the money at $900 for 4 nights with airfare from Newark, NJ and round trip transportation in early November, 2015. That's the high end...I would not pay more than that for it.

Excelente relación precio-calidadPosted Oct 26, 2015
Pros: Ubicación, comida, habitaciones.

Nice hotel for the pricePosted Oct 23, 2015
I recently stayed at this hotel in mid-October and we really enjoyed our time. The weather was less than desirable, but that's what you get for booking during hurricane season. The hotel is in the gated community Playacar, which was kind of nice. Also very close to 5th Ave shopping. Only a $8 taxi ride from the hotel or you can take bikes/walk from the hotel. The staff at this hotel is amazing and work extremely hard to make sure you have a great stay. The rooms were very nice and clean. We had an recently renovated room for no extra charge and it was really nice. We were in the "3000" block, which was the farthest from the main pool, food and beach... But it was the quietest during the night and close to the relax adult only pool. The wifi at this place was terrible and didn't work very well. Buffet food was average, but the resorts restaurants were awesome. Overall, it was a great time in Playa del Carmen and at Viva Maya. I would probably not stay here again though.

Nice hotel, on the beach with plenty of amenitiesPosted Oct 15, 2015
Pros: Beach area was kept clean daily and seaweed was removed as much as possible. Staff was friendly and helpful. Drinks didn't appear to be watered down.
Cons: Snack bar - more variety; more Mexican food options; better Wi-Fi in lobby.
Location: We visited Xcaret while we were there and also took a Buggy Tour. There is also a small shopping area just outside the entrance to the resort.
This was our first time staying in an all-inclusive resort, so I'm afraid we don't have anything to compare it to. Overall, it was very nice and we enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful when you needed them. It was also directly on the beach and there were plenty of chairs and activities occurring throughout the day to enjoy. The only area that I could see any need for improvement would be with the snack bar. The same foods are available every night, so it would be nice if there was a little variety. However, we usually just ate in the main buffet area, so this wasn't a huge issue. We were a little disappointed that there weren't more options for Mexican food, being that we were in Mexico, but I can understand that everyone might not feel this way. The options that were available were very good. You are allowed to eat in a restaurant a couple of times (depending on how long you are staying). The two that we chose were excellent. The Italian restaurant was our favorite of the two. Also, it would have been nice if the Wi-Fi would have worked a little better. You could purchase it in your room, but we didn't plan on using it very much so we didn't go this route. The free Wi-Fi was available in the lobby, but it was extremely slow and not really functional. Would have been nice to use it to learn more about the shopping in the area, but the concierge desk is helpful with that as well.

Fun and exciting environment!Posted Oct 1, 2015
Pros: I loved the atmosphere. The Animation crew was AMAZING They were all so friendly, and fun to be around.
Cons: Wording on the website in regards to what regular guests get versus VIP guests-very confusing.
Location: LOVED the location. a little over a mile walk to the pier where you can sign up for deep sea fishing, or a trip to Cozumel. Tulum Ruins, and Snorkling
Overall, our stay at the hotel was wonderful. There are a few things I don't know if I had missed in the fine print, or if they just didn't say, which include the mini bar in the room. I was under the impression that EVERY room had a mini bar that was stocked daily-this was not the case. I was also under the impression that there were 4 restaurants we could eat at, but found out that we could only eat at 2 because we were not VIP members. the site made it seem like both of these were included with every room. We also asked for ocean front because it was our honeymoon, but none of the rooms are true ocean front. Overall though, we really enjoyed our stay there! The Animation crew is AMAZING! We loved how they had so many activities for the guests, and worked hard to get individuals involved. The nightly shows were amazing, all the staff was very friendly (minus the operator on the phone, she didn't speak much English, and hung up on us more than once) and the bartenders were awesome, there was one that worked at the bar by the pool who remembered us after our first drink! He always had our drinks ready for us!! His name started with an E, I wish I could remember his whole name. Anyways, we are planning a group trip with our friends next year to come to this location again. :)
