"Wonderful Hotel and perfect location!"
We stayed at the hotel for four nights in early June 2016 and loved every minute of it! This hotel is a very special place and a unique experience. The room was large, very clean and decorated in a classical style with amazing views of the Duomo di Firenze right outside our window. When we arrived I wondered if it we would hear the sounds of people in the piazza but the sound proofing in the room was great. The main window opens so you can have fresh air in the room if desired and also to take photos but once closed the windows are very tight and sound proof. The hotel staff was great and having a mini kitchen in the room was wonderful as we kept some cheese and salami in the frig for afternoon snacks. The staff also provides complimentary water and juice in the frig as well as breakfast in the room. The staff was very friendly and called a taxis for us when we left for the train station. Because the hotel is right on the plaza, if you return to the hotel late at night you enter a code on a keypad to unlock the front door. It is easy to do and my teenage son thought it was awesome as people walking by wondered why we had a special access code - very James Bond! He spent several late evenings at the MOVE ON Italian pub and café across the plaza from the hotel. He could sit in the café and visit with other study abroad teenagers all within sight of the hotel and the room windows.

"Comfortable and Convenient"
Rezidenza is right in the center of things, a few minutes walk from major attractions. My single room was small but comfortable with a very high ceiling, so no danger of claustrophobia The owner/manager spent considerable time orienting me to Florence and was very helpful, even loaning me an alarm clock. He is not there at night (but can be contacted), so wake-up calls are out the question. And security is good: Common facilities are provided for preparing and eating food.

"Very good location. Close to everything. "
The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. They spoke English very well. The room was large with high ceilings, the bathroom was very large including a bidet and heated towel rack. Only drawback was the shower was so small I had a hard time showering and I am a small woman. I could not imagine how a large person or a man would shower in such a small space. Breakfast was served daily in our room. Fresh baked warm croissants yum!!! I would stay there again.

"Very clean and great location"
Because we were arriving late the hotel set up a pin for us to enter the building. Security and lighting was high tech but didn't compromise the old feel of the building. Rooms were immaculate and air conditioning worked really well. Location was better than I first thought...a very short walk across the square to the Uffizi.

Stayed 4 days, breakfast was a problem every day. Staff would wait for hot food to run out then start the process to replenish. Same with coffee. 20-30 minutes every morning

Olga's House

Via Calimaruzza 4-Piazza Della Signoria, Florence 50123 - Map
"Fantastic Location, good wifi, accommodating staff"
Nicely renovated, clean and VERY large rooms. Great wifi. The location is perfect, walking distance to all the main attractions in Florence. As it is a guest house and not a hotel and there is no reception, ensure you make arrangements with the owners before your arrival to ensure a smooth check in. I rudely have forgotten the owners name, but he was extremely accommodating and prepared to ensure my every need was met (unfortunately I didn't have any, but he did provide me with a map!). Breakfast is a voucher for one of the cafes in Piazza della Signoria, which is about a 15 meter walk from the front door and entails pastries and coffee with the locals. If you want a hotel, this is not for you, but I highly recommend Olga's house and when I return to Florence, won't even consider staying anywhere else.

Hotel San Giovanni

Via Dei Cerretani 2, Florence 50123 - Map
"Location, location, location!"
I booked this hotel based upon it's location and for this, it does not disappoint. But it is a one star hotel so do not expect your usual hotel extras. Like Florence, it is ancient. This adds to it's quirkiness. My husband insisted on the rooms with an en suite and these are in the annexe. We didn't have a view of the dome, but we were overlooking the Basilica di San Lorenzo on San Lorenzo Piazza. This is a busy noisy buzzing Piazza. Bring ear plugs for sleeping! We were only here 2 nights so it didn't matter. The bed is very squeaky, the room is tiny, the en suite teeny tiny. The shower is surprisingly powerful but the drainage is terrible. Turn the shower off to soap up and allow the water to drain away. The loo is some kind of sanilav system which makes an after noise. There is a communal kitchen area but we didn't use this. When we arrived at the hotel, the reception is in the main hotel which is round the corner. It's upstairs so you have to buzz to get in. The receptionist, a lovely little man wasn't there, he was round the corner, and it is quite a distance, at the annexe. We were panicking and tried to call the number on the door. It didn't work! Eventually he came back and apologised as he'd left the phone behind. If you are in the annexe don't bother going up to reception, he'll bring the paperwork to you. Ask before you attempt to go up, singularly in the lift. Do not stay in this hotel if you have mobility issues.

Soggiorno Battistero

Piazza Di San Giovanni 1, Florence 50129 - Map
"Room with a View"
I stayed at the Soggiorno Battistero for 2 nights - as everyone mentions, the location is fantastic.. It is about a 10 minute walk to the station, which is no problem - except for dodging sightseers... definitely not worth getting a cab unless you have children. As I was a single traveller, my room was tiny and very basic. A single bed and a small but very clean bathroom... It was great as I only really need a bed to sleep in and somewhere for a shower, there is so much to be done in Florence that I spent no time in my room. The rooms are secure as is the building..Check in is on the 3rd floor up the elevator. The breakfast is served on a tray to your room, which includes fresh brewed coffee/milk, orange juice, a pastry, a boiled egg and toast (this came in a packet, i did not eat this) and a fresh warm muffin baked in the morning. My view was breathtaking, looking over the Duomo right outside my window... there were 2 windows to close to block out any noise from the street, and they worked.. I did not hear any noise... Although the square does become quiet in the evening. and isn't really busy until after 8ish. The hotel is very central to all the main attractions and markets and of course designer stores. I would stay here again for sure..

"Great location and apartment."
The location is wonderful. It's right in the middle of everything. The apartment was clean and it was very convenient to have a kitchen so we could eat breakfast in the room. I didn't use it, but there's even a clothes washer in the room. It's right around the corner from a grocery store too. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I was concerned about getting a key to the apartment since the office is not located where the apartments are located, but we called the staff when we arrived in Florence and they met us at the apartment. The office is just a 2-3 minute walk from the apartments. I would definitely stay here again!
