Overall, I had a mixed experience at San Francisco Proper. The hotel’s aesthetic is beautiful, and the design is one of its biggest strengths. The rooftop is gorgeous, the restaurant was excellent, and every staff member we interacted with was genuinely kind, welcoming, and attentive. The service was definitely the highlight of our stay. That said, there were a few things that would keep me from booking here again. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was so soft that you completely sank into it and it offered virtually no back support, which made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The room itself was also darker than expected. The lighting was very dim, and the bathroom felt quite small. While the room appeared clean at first glance, there were several details that made it feel dusty and not thoroughly cleaned. The fabric headboard and the curtains had a noticeable layer of dust, and there were a few missed spots in the bathroom, including visible stains on the toilet. I really wanted to love this hotel because the atmosphere, rooftop, restaurant, and exceptional staff were all wonderful. Unfortunately, comfort and cleanliness are just as important to me, and because of the uncomfortable bed and the housekeeping issues, I don’t think I would choose to stay here again.

I wouldn’t call this place a hotel. It’s a big house that turned into a guest house. Room was really small. Reception working only 9-5. Parking outside is impossible. I wouldn’t recommend at all. Very disappointing.

This is a great place for a staycation. I really enjoyed the beer garden and Woodfire pizzas they served. I will definitely go back and visit again.
