"Good Hotel"
The hotel is in a great location, it's only 2 blocks from union square and very close to the shopping district. The area is the only negative aspect, since it's in the tenderloin district. My advise is when you leave your hotel just make a right and never go left and you will be ok. Other than that the staff is excellent and free coffee in the morning is a plus.

"Boutique San Francisco hotel "
Quirky, comfortable and friendly hotel. Our room was bright and reasonably spacious, and although it had no view it was quiet and the bed was comfortable. It was my wife's birthday and the Duty Manager kindly sent a bottle of wine and chocolates to the room - a lovely gesture, and totally unexpected. Thank you! The room was well equipped and toiletries of a decent standard. The fridge was suitably stocked, if a bit pricey - but probably no more expensive than elsewhere in the city.

"Nice hotel but I opted not to stay again. "
I paid for a spa room which was huge and the spa tub did work. I have to say, though, that while I slept like a log a small thing disappointed me and made me feel like a second class guest. The coffee table in the room was in horrible shape - beat up and incongruent with the decor. Sounds trivial, but I ended up not booking there for a second weekend.

"Amazing Staff"
This hotel has an amazing hardworking and friendly staff. The hotel is itself is nice and my room was larger than I'd been prepared for. After moving from the 4th (top) floor because of cigarette smoke odour, I was given the same room on the second floor #236. There nothing wrong with the hotel or room except that you can hear EVERYTHING outside the street. Every word of conversations as people pass by. Yelling and screaming at 2am. Drunk people passing by at 3am. People leaving for the airport at 5am. Footsteps from the room above me. It's too bad since I liked the location at The Wharf; you should know that there is a noticable number of homeless and travellers begging in the Wharf area though. You also have to take a cab to non-touristy dining, with the exception of Albona Italian nearby, according to the concierge. Albona had delicious cuisine with average service but it's not a scenic location. I'd like to give it a higher rating as the bed was comfortable, the room was charming, the staff was excellent and there was a free wine and snack reception 5-6pm every night - and the Chardonnay was not bad - but being kept up all night by noise ruined it. Sound proofing - better windows maybe? There has to be a way to fix this. I should mention the noise was a problem only the second night. Maybe less people were out Monday night.

"A wonderful hotel, not the best neighbourhood."
A great hotel close to union square. The rooms are clean and well maintained, the staff friendly and helpful. This is a great hotel to stay at but be careful if you're walking from the hotel. Homeless people are plentiful though not aggressive, they will approach you almost as soon as you're outside.
