“My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at The Tranquil House Inn in Manteo while we explored the Outer Banks. The rooms and service were great, and the location right on the water in downtown Manteo was perfect. Manteo has a charming downtown that offers plenty of shops and attractions without feeling too touristy. We also really enjoyed the light breakfast offerings each morning and the staff were so friendly and helpful.”

“Staff at desk were wonderful. The property is undergoing renovation and is obviously a work in progress. The room was comfortable, attractive, updated, ecologically sensitive, but did not have some of the amenities we have come to expect, like shower caps, hand and body lotion, etc.”

“Very impersonal. Check in/out is virtual, they were fairly nice, it was hard to understand what they were saying. The shower had dirty footprints and a bottle of soap left in it. One of the washcloths was dirty with what looked like the same dirt from the footprints in the shower. The toilet had a partial strip of paper that should be broken off before the first use by new tenants, but it was just set over the top to make it look like it was cleaned. “Our stay at Surf Side Hotel was absolutely amazing! 5 stars without a doubt. The cleanliness of the rooms was outstanding — everything was spotless, fresh, and very comfortable. You can really tell they take pride in keeping the hotel in excellent condition. The beds were comfortable, and the entire room felt welcoming and relaxing for our family. “They did a great job renovating the Tar Heel motel. Clean, comfortable rooms. Bring K-cups with you if you are a big coffee drinker and don’t pack heavy. This is the best of old school Outer Banks, reminds me of when my parents would take us to OBX in the 70’s staying at the Beacon.”

“Room for the most part was clean and comfortable. The window was very dirty however and since this was an ocean front room, we were hoping for a clearer view of this amenity. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. We had to use two different elevators to access our room on the fourth . There was some type of plumbing work being done in the hallways and the walls were torn up and pipes exposed. Carpeting in the hallways and the stairwells were very sandy.”
