Hotel is generally nice, clean and well maintained, food not bad and facilities and location really good. Lively nightlife but suitable for all.

Old facilities with bad service

Pros: Nice pools, nice beach, nice paths crossing the jungle, all inclusive hotel even the room mini bar, cool bar, nice shopping stores.
Cons: Service, service and service.
Location: It's well located, 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen for 200 pesos or 50 pesos in a collective bus and you can do payed tours.
They didn't give us the ocean view with king bed room the first 3 days no matter that we paid for that, they gave us a 2 bed room with garden view and didn't care we were in our honey moon. 80% of the staff was mad, didn't want to help and didn't care about us. There were nice people too, thanks God! The air conditioner didn't work the first 3 days, some light bulbs didn't work and it were never replaced, the room looked old and in bad shape but comfortable. The food was average, international buffet and the reservation restaurants had very limited choices. They made us go to a selling conference with tricks, they promised room change, better service and other things but that never happened and we lost 2 days canceling the contract and we are still in progress. DONT GO TO THE SELLING CONFERENCE. They say that is a 5 star hotel but I would give them 3. Good things, well, nice pools, nice beach, nice paths crossing the jungle, all inclusive hotel even the room mini bar, cool bar, nice shopping stores.

Family getaway

We stayed at Blue Bay for 5 nights . Rooms were ok but the pools were very dirty . The biggest dissapoitment was the beach . The beach area was way too small and full with bags of sands too stop the water . We are definetwly going back to Riviera Maya but not staying at Blue Bay.

Internet horrid. Front desk refused to help. Argued about everything related to Internet We were never informed about dining regulations. Missed three dinner due to that. Assume management mid and upper need a shake up. Grounds are beautiful but some attitudes are not. In Cozumel at Playa Azul totally better attitude wit all staff

Acceptable but not as good as Playacar Palace

Pros: Availability of sailing boats included in all inclusive (30mins once a day - apparently fairly non-negotiable)
Cons: Pool - should be fully open if the hotel is, beach should have sand bags removed, food should be fresher (even in buffet), restaurants more flexible
Location: Can walk to nicer beaches and coves to the North (10 mins). Can arrange tours and there is in resort entertainment program.
When we arrived, we had to wait to be taken to our room by the bell boys (15mins), the room was ok but the bathroom had a slight smell (lasted during stay), half the pool was closed, some staff were good but most were just doing a job (compared with other hotels where they are helpful and enthusiastic) the 'all inclusive' was slightly less than ALL (e.g. room service had a charge) and the all inclusive meals were in specific restaurants where specific times had to be booked (and you still had to with 20mins on arrival). The restaurants were generally themed and this made it difficult if one wants a steak and the other is vegetarian or wants fish as each room can only book 1 restaurant and so either one goes hungry or you cannot eat together unless you go to the buffet restaurant with pre cooked food prepared en mass rather than cooked to order, but then this is the danger of having to cater for the thousands of people in the bigger resorts. Finally the beach was made of sand bags to hold back the erosion - not too picturesque. That said, there were sailing boats included once a day in the all inclusive and the hotel would have been ok had we not stayed at better hotels on the same trip.

Rooms were dirty and run down. Staff selling you something every time you turn around. Beach was disgusting with trash and sandbags everywhere

nice hotel close to playa del carmen on the beach

Pros: had a little bit of everything. pools were great, food was good,
Cons: lobby was only at entrance up top, wish secondary lobby avail to people who's rooms are by beach, no food available between 10 and 11 pm
Location: only 10 to 15 mins from the main shopping area, can get to ferry to cozmel from here as well
we had a short 5 day stay and really enjoyed this hotel.. it was like a mini version of some of the huge ones, which is nice because its less walking. food was great and had good selection. pool was great and had large beach access. night time was quiet, but close enough to get to playa del carmen if you want to go out...

Relaxing vacation in paradise!

Pros: Pools, food, service, great a/c in the room, big shower, double sink, beautiful grounds, cocktails, lots of wildlife
Cons: Beach area, but you can walk 5 mins to the left and swim in the lagoon or 5 mins to the right and swim in the crystal clear ocean at the next resort.
Location: There is not a disco, but they have a beach party at 11pm. Daily activities were plentiful. Great staff keeping us entertained at the pool area.
Great for couples and families. Most of the hotel staff were very hospitable and accommodating; however, there were a few that would benefit from smiling a bit more. The main pool was closed during our stay. It opened on the 8th day when we were departing. It was closed for repairs. However, there were two other pools and they were wonderful. The grounds are beautiful and the employees work hard to maintain it. They're always cleaning, sweeping, etc. We were in building 5; which is close to the beach, but the tram does not come back to it. Buildings 1-4 are near the beach as well and the tram does stop there. Buildings 6-8 are near the lobby and it's about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach or you can take the tram. There is also a large pool near those buildings. There are 3 buffets and the a la carte restaurants change nightly. The food is good, there is a lot of variety. There are bars next to all of the pools and a sports bar. They will use well/house liquor unless you ask for premium. They had Absolut, Sky, Stoli for vodka and Cuervo, 1800 and Don Julio for tequila. We were pleasantly surprised as most resorts would charge more for better liquor. The drinks were good. Tips: Again, the employees work hard. Servers, bartenders, etc. and the work long days - a few dollars in tips goes a long way. The beach is not ideal. There is plenty of sand and room to lay on the beach, but the water has a lot of seaweed and is not ideal for swimming. The resort makes up for it though.

Great place, very big, and everyone is friendly. Food is good and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The only negative is the internet isn't really good in the rooms which is where you would probably use it the most.
