Our room

Pros: It was close to a pool
Our sink was plugged when we got there, after asking to have it fixed four times we gave up, complimantery bottles of rum in room were open,TV was replaced with one that did'nt work properly, nothing wrong with the one that was there. We will likely never stay there again

Our first room was filthy. There was a band next to our building that played til 1am every morning. Might as well been in our room. When we asked to switch buildings, the staff was very rude and told us there were no rooms. Amazingly, they found a room, because I was persistent. I realize people are on vacation and it's not a deluxe hotel but everyone was drunk and it was extremely obnoxious at night. Awful. I'm going back to the karisma hotels. Much better. You def get what you pay for.

Pros: The resort shuttle was very helpful since it was so spread out. The food was decent. The pool area was nice - just too far from our rooms.

Location: We took a taxi to downtown Playa and then the ferry to Cozumel. Pricey but fun. Other than that we stayed at resort.
Rooms were way too far from the ocean and had the tiniest beach of any resort we have ever been to. The ocean was full of seaweed and sharp rocks and very dark. There were tons of mosquitoes and the rooms absolutely stunk from the fumigation they used. The night life was really boring. The people at the front desk took forever to get us checked in - line was way too long and they weren't very efficient or helpful. We were REALLY disappointed in our view from our room - all trees, brush and bugs. We couldn't even open our patio door due to bugs. We could only reserve our night meals one day in advance, so had to make the long trip back to the lobby daily. Standing in lines cut into our vacation time.

Decent Resort

Pros: Spa: we discovered that the spa is apparently open to all guests during the evening. When the air temperature cools down,, the warm spa is great!
Cons: Maid Service: the resort seems to be understaffed in this area. Our room was often still not cleaned at 4 pm.
Location: Very close to Playa del Carmen. The beach is walkable for a least 4-5 miles to the south and 1-2 miles north, perhaps more. Go north to the lagoon!
This was our 4th stay in the greater Cancun area – once right on the strip, once on Cozumel, and other time near Akumal. In the price range that we seek, we’ve found that each Yucatan resort has plusses and minuses that net the overall experience to somewhere around 3.7 – 3.9. Stop reading now if you think you’re going to get a four-star or better resort at this price. We are a late 40’ish couple who stayed at BBGE for 10 days in mid-March. The main things we look for in a resort are that it caters to a quieter crowd (not too many spring breakers), has a decent, walk-able beach with swimming; provides buffet options for breakfast and lunch; offers dinner restaurants that don’t try too hard to be something else (who goes to Cancun for Italian food, anyway?); and has a comfortable room for the end of the day -- warm showers with good water pressure. The Blue Bay generally provided all of this. Was everything top-notch? Of course not; neither the resort nor the weather was perfect – and expecting otherwise is as useful as expecting to control the weather. But at the end of the day, and at the end of the vacation, we’re happy to share our tips that will hopefully make your stay just a little bit better.

Okay all inclusive

The hotel was great and the staff were friendly and did a great job. The beach is not bad but far from great especially in comparison to other nearby resorts. The food was okay, found that the French restaurant was really good but others lacked flavor. The WIFI at the hotel is terrible and there are small spots around the hotel that a terrible smell is emitting out of a nearby creek.

Rusty towel rack took 3 days to get replaced. Not up to the standards of a 5 star hotel. Hotel staff threw away foulard and no responsibility acknowledged.

You get what you pay for

Pros: The rooms are very good and the food too.
Cons: The noise in the mornings, the slow service in the restaurants and the wine which it's awful.
Location: The location its OK. What I really recommend is visiting Tulum, specially playa Paraiso, its amazing!
The hotel has a very good infrastructure, nice pools, nice rooms, beautiful restaurants and the food was very good. The main bad issues I detected were 1) The rooms are bad isolated from noise so at 7 am you star hearing a lot of noise; 2) the service of the restaurants is quite slow, maybe because they only have a couple of waitress for each restaurant; 3) The wine included was terrible, the worst I had tried in my life; 4) The beach is really small and not pretty compared to the ones of the area.
