Not a bad hotelPosted Mar 4, 2014
Pros: Price was competitive. Pool was nice.
Cons: Service was lackluster at times but they were polite/cordial. Internet should be free for all devices in an all-inclusive.
Location: Location was a 10min cab ride from downtown that costs. $20 US one way. If you don't mind paying that's the only thing nearby.
Hotel was pretty good. Have stayed at better in Cancun/Playa. Have stayed at worse hotels in my life as well. Food there was ok but the other all inclusives food I would rate the same in Playa. The pool was nice, amenities for the most part were nice. Beach water was terrible. I've stayed in Cancun & closer to the downtown area of Playa & it's clearer water. The water here was mucky & dirty which made me have to go to the pool for a dip. For that reason alone I wouldn't recommend. But if you're not a big beach person & don't mind being a cab ride away from downtown Playa then this could be for you. I prefer the food in the downtown restraurants & it's better for the bars as well. This resort was more for the pool in the day with limited "action" at night although they do have some random things to do throughout the night (shows, vendors selling stuff, bar) & an all night sports bar but for single folks definitely would recommend staying downtown over this hotel. For couples it's good & a little less expensive than those that are closer. They also had me & my wife put into a 2 double bed room with no availability near the beach for a king so we stuck with the double room. They did the same to another couple behind us. They should have held a king bed for couples.

Nice hotel, great food, good locationPosted Mar 4, 2014
Great hotel, really good food and service. Sailing, windsurfing, volleyball, all really fun. We experienced no problems. The only thing was that our room had a little bit of a odor but I believe this is because of the mangroves and nature next to the room. But overall great experience and we would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Nice resortPosted Mar 3, 2014
Lots of food options, excellent service and staff and great location. Only problem we had with the place was that the ocean was pretty dirty and it can be quite a wait at the swing bar. There is no"pool" bar. kind of a long walk from beach to lobby so bring comfy shoes. rooms were nice enough for the little time spent in them. Bathrooms by the pool could be bigger, but surprisingly there wasn't usually a wait.

Enjoyable vacation, if you're not to fussyPosted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: Friendliness of the staff. Over all cleanliness.
Cons: The chairs in the beach restaurant are to low. Need rubber wheels on all the carts, very noisy when rolling down the hallways. Pour stronger drinks.
Location: Playa Del Carmen. If you have never been to Playa, go once. Junk shops galore.
When we arrived our room was ready. Check in was a breeze and the staff did a good job explaining where everything was. We popped the extra $50.00 per person for a ocean view. It was money well spent because this put us in building #5 and it was only a 2 minute walk or less to the main pool and beach area. We also ate breakfast and lunch in the beach restaurant. We didn't have any problems getting reservation in the specialty restaurants. I read reviews where guests complained about the "dirty beach". The resort have crews out twice a day cleaning up sea weed. I don't think the resort can be held responsible for mother natures actions. The provide a jitney service, but sometimes it's faster to walk to wherever you're going. I feel the drinks were rather weak. We would go to the sports bar each evening for cocktails before dinner. The bar was under staffed. Some times only 1 bartender and 2 waitresses. Very long lines. We established a friendship with the wait staff and thing only got better. The meals we ate in the main restaurant were tasty and the service was excellent.

Not a good place to stay, disappointing! 2-star mxPosted Mar 2, 2014
Pros: Been to a lot of hotels including in Mexico, the housekeeping was very nice! pleasant friendly. They followed thru on all of our needs!
Cons: communication, making good on promises, live entertainment would be/smart thing. Had one nite for one hour a live band and everyone got up and danced
Location: loved Xplorer tour! fabulous! Went shopping X2 in PLaya De Carmen, fun! went deep sea fishing but/ told fishing was great when there told off season!
not good accommodations, gave us an upgrade due to space but gave us a room with 2 tvs and 2 remotes that didn't work, TV wouldn't change even by hand, and other one only turned on and off if you unplugged it! The drains in the double sink were jammed with plugs that didn't fit and stopped the drains from draining. called front office and spoke to more than 6 people about our troubles and only Antonio C. did a thing about it! He was very nice and tried to accommodate us but after he made requests nothing happened by the hotel mgmt. We stayed 7 days and we left without the TV problem fixed still. Our housekeeper was superb, Claudia, works hard and was super sweet. the front desk was useless, when it came to getting our problems fixed. Communication with the guests and the people picking up for tours etc. is horrible. We're waiting for over 1 hr to be picked up (we were on time and even early for the pickup) and they kept telling us its coming... when after nearly 45 minutes after they left, Antonio C. came over to tell us that they left & that we weren't going to be able to go on the tour we purchased. They did give us the next day to go again. but we were really angry as we were inconvenienced by their lack of communication. No life at nite in this hotel! Boring! the VIP bar didn't have working speakers and no music. The employee brings in his own speakers/computer for the customers to enjoy some music. Their live entermt. stunk! I would never go there again!

The upgrade was nicePosted Mar 2, 2014
Pros: Loved the pool layout, but they were dirty
Cons: To much to list.
Location: Playa de Carmen was okay
Went with a group of 8 adults. We were immediately sent to the blue bay diamond due to lack of room at the blue bay esmerelda. Omg that place was nice. We were then sent back three days later to the blue bay esmerelas. It's like going from the ritz to the motel 6. I'd never go back.

My first vacation in Mexico and I'm not disappointed. However had few chances to find out how long " Mexican minute" really is.
